Hugh Lemuel Cherry
Hugh Lemuel Cherry b. March 16, 1895 in Big Rock, Stewart Co. TN, the son of Wallace Roy Cherry and Lucy Overton Gardner. . He was named for his uncle Hugh Minor Gardner. His sister was Juliet Amanda Cherry His father remarried to Mollie Bryson Dickinson, daughter of Reuben Dabney Dickenson and Emily Leonora Harris in June 1898. Hugh's half brothers: Ruben Graham Cherry (he did not like the name Ruben, so went by Robert, family used Graham) and William Wallace Cherry, his half sister was Lucille Cherry. Hugh married just before he left for France in WWI, and divorced shortly after he returned. He then married Annie Lucetta White of Christian Co. KY on Dec 1921, at the home of her parents Mr.. & Mrs. J. W. White of the Russellville Road, Shrevepost LA. They had known each other prior to his first marriage. 1914-1916 - The City of Hopkinsville Ky director showed Hugh L. Cherry agent, Independent Life Ins. Co, boards at 812 S. Campbell. Wallace Roy Cherry as supt. Independent Life Ins. Co. res. 812 S. Campbell. They had one child, Dorothy Mae Cherry. She has 2 sons & 1 daughter. (Hugh & Annie were divorced in 1933.) Hugh L. Cherry was also married to Annie Gray Tarbutton. Hugh was the great uncle of Rose Kirchoff, shane53@concentric.net
