The Stewart County Historical Society was the recipient of an American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) Certificate of Commendation for Stewart County, Tennessee History and Families, Vol. II. AASLH’s Awards program is the most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of local, state and regional history. Jane Bagwell and Dale Young attended the 2002 honors banquet in Portland, OR to accept the award for the society. The cost of the banquet was underwritten by the History Channel.
