Jones Family
I have an ancestor, Robert Jones, who arrived in Stewart about 1806-7. I have found all his 8 children and almost all their spouses through deed,court, and census records in Stewart Co. He married a second time--Elizabeth Barnes in 1841, which is noted on the Stewart Co. marriage page. His first wife may have the last name of Herrod, although I cannot prove it. One son (my ancestor) was named Herod, which is peculiar unless the name was a family name. The first child was Elizabeth, who married Mark Weeks. The second was Nancy, who married first Hyrum D. Fowler and second James Burcham. Third was Judith who married William T. Fowler. Fourth was Parthena who married Chester Wilkins. Fifth was Reubin. Sixth was Clayton D., who married Mary -------; seventh was Herod, who married first Zilpha -------, who died in 1860, and second, Elizabeth Downs in 1866. The eighth child Martha/Mary married James C. Brake. Lawrence D. Dyer.
