DAVIS. I read an article from a paper in the Houston County Library and the article stated Stewart could boast of a millinery shop in the early 1900s. DUNN. I'm trying to determine if my William Dunn was from Stewart Co. before moving to Wilson Co. He is listed in the 1810 Wilson Co. census in Lebanon with his wife and daughter. I believe he was born around 1785. He married Elizabeth Brady (Bradley?) on December 11, 1810 in Wilson Co. and had a daughter named Mary who was born between 1811 to 1813 on March 10th. There's another William Dun listed on that census in Lebanon, aged 45 and over and probably a wife who was aged 26-44. I'm not sure if these 2 William are related because they lived quite a ways away, but I don't see any other Dunn families around. If anybody has any idea if the first William Dunn may have come from Stewart Co., please email me. Thank you :) R. Estes; Submitted on Tue Sep 4 08:09:52 MDT 2001

FERRELL, FERRILL. William A. Ferrell bought and sold land in the northern part of Stewart co Tn on Saline Creek in 1832-1836 near the former community of Tobaccoport and near the present town of Bumpus Mills. Based upon the names of witnesses and the names of other nearby property owners, it seems likely that he was closely related to John Ferrell (or Ferrill) of that same area. If he is related to this John Ferrell, I'm assuming that William A. was born sometime around 1800 to 1810 in either Martin co NC or Hawkins/Stewart cos Tn. Neither the names of William's wife or any children are known at this time. If you have any knowledge of William A. and/or his family and where they went after leaving Stewart co in 1836, I would appreciate hearing from you. David F. OUTLAW-DRY HOLLOW COMMUNITY. I am doing research on the OUTLAW family who arrived in Stewart (now Houston County) in 1800 or a bit before. I have seen references to the "Dry Hollow Creek Community". It was located near McKinnon Tn past Cane Creek...I believe it would have been just a bit past the road leading to the Cane Creek Cemetery on the opposite side of the highway...on a farm that was called in 1965 "Pleasant Valley"...it was part of the old Outlaw Homestead. I have been told that there were about twelve families living there and that the community included a wood mill and church. If anyone has any info of any kind, I would certainly appreciate it. Since I have started researching my family's roots, I have wished for one thing...that I could remember all the stories of the past my grandmother, Mary Lou (Outlaw) Yates told me as we sat rocking on her front porch. My thanks in advance to anyone and everyone who reads this and starts remembering... Donna Yates Gorman; Submitted on Tue Dec 4 20:28:20 MST 2001
