MCADAMS. In Overton or Stewart counties ?? of Tennessee in the 1810-1820 time period, we suspect there were three generations of the same McAdams line - John McAdams I (no data), John McAdams II(born in Ireland in 1779, emigrated to America in 1783, married Martha Rodgers in S. Carolina in 1808), and John McAdams III, born 1815 in Maury co. Tennessee to John II and Martha Rodgers. Children of John II and Martha Rodgers (Rogers)by 1815 were James (b1805), Elizabeth (b1806), Mary (b1808), Joseph (b1811), Nancy (b1811), and John III (b1815 Maury co.).
John II was a lay preacher in the area around Overton co. during this period 1810-1820 (family tradition). John II moved his family to Alabama in the early 1820's and then on to Texas in the early 1830's. We have no confirmation of John I or John II in Tennessee during this time period despite his children's later confirmation of this fact. Does anyone have any data or family history info on any John McAdams families in this area of Tennessee during this time period 1810 Thomas McAdams; Submitted on Sat Dec 9 06:37:40 MST 2000

TERRELL, TERRILL. Edmund or Edward TERRELL/TERRILL (b. 1770) was the father of many children. Different authors have published contradictory information about him. One says his estate was settled in 1808. Another says he died in Stewart Co in 1862. He appears in the 1840 and 1850 census of Montgomery Co as Edward Terrell, but I believe he was Edmund Terrill. He married (1) Mary Jane Maxwell (d. 1819), and (2) Elizabeth Jones (d. 1881). But, in the 1850 census his wife is "Mary" (supposed to be long dead). Can anyone provide data on this man, or know if a will in Stewart Co? Perhaps we have mixed data on two different men. Thanks. Don C. Terrill (with the Terrell Society of America). Don C.
