Tank Liesel - German Tank In Ditch




German Prisoners Guarded by Robert Shelton McClellan
"This is a bunch of prisoners. The one with the mark over his head is the one that
give me this picture. (4th soldier from left on back row) I chased them to Tours and
put them on the train for Germany. There was 700 German prisoners that went home".

Note that the letter dated August 7, 1919 and summarized on the "Views From The Battle Front"
page mentions that Robert McClellan just got finished chasing prisoners and that they were going
to send them home that week. Obviously, the prisoners knew the war was over and that they were
going home; thus their relaxed demeanor in the photo. Granddaddy thought he would be sailing
back to the USA on Aug 20, 1919.
