Isaac John’s Will

This is the first husband of Jonathan Key’s second wife, Anne West-Johns

 

In the name of God Amen.

I Isaac Johns of Smith County and state of Tennessee, being sick in body but sound in mind and memory calling to mind the good things that God has bestowed on me I make this my Last will and Testament in the following manner-

(to wit) I request my friends to bury my body in a decent manner and my soul I recommend to God who gave it: and after my funeral charges and Lawfull debts are paid, I give and bequeath all my Estate both real and personal to my beloved wife Anne Johns During her Lifetime and at her Decease it is to be Divided Equally between my youngest sister Polly Johns and my wife’s youngest sister Betty West to Dispose of as they think proper. I make choice of my father Benjamin Johns and Col. William Walton to be my Lawfull Executors of this my Last Will and Testament; and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannull all and every former Testament will Legacies and bequests and Executions (?) by me any way before named willed or bequested Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this second day of February 1809.

This day appeared in open Court John Cal? And John Parte and made oath that the contents hereto fore above purporting to be the will and Testament of Isaac Johns is according to the wish and inventory of the said Isaac Johns Deceased.
