Being somewhat feeble in body but having full possession of my mental faculties, I do on the 24th day eighteen hundred and forty eight make this my last will and testament in the following words to wit.

1st, For the Esteem which I have for my neice Ermanilda Banks I do will and bequeath to her a portion of the tract of land upon which I now live.  The line shall begin at a ------------on the north end of Spring Creek at Bowmans Branch, southwest from my door and about Eighty yards from the same (marked EB) and run North until it strikes the fence which includes the field lying west of my house.  There with said fence until strikes Elijah Banks Jr. line -----the land lying west of the said Ermanilda ----------her possession as soon as practicle after my death.

2nd I For the love and affection which I have for my sister Jane Banks I do will and bequeath to her my two negroe women Amanda and Sophia and all of their increas should there be any, the same to keep during her natual life and at her death the said negroes with their increase should there be any shll be given to Mary Jane Cosby and her bodily heirs.

3rd I do also will and bequeath to my sister Jane Banks all of my household and kitchen furniture together with all of my stock consisting of one mare, hogs, cattle, and with any species of property of which I am in posession at my death the same to keep are held during her natural life and at her death to Mary Jane Cosby and her bodily heirs.  And I do request my sister Jane Banks to give to the negroe girl Sophia one feather bed --------clothing.

4th If I should die before the --------John O Cosby pays me the two hundred dollars which he owes me for the land which he has purchased of me, then I do make him a present of all the money that remains unpaid.

5th I do will and bequeath to James Chambers heirs one dollar, To John Chambers Heirs one dollar, Richard Chambers heirs one dollar,  William Chambers heirs one dollar, Lucy Payne one dollar,  Eucey Payne one Dollar , this money shall paid to them by my Executors at my death.

6th I do -------and appoint Elijah J. Banks my lawfull Executor.  ____ under my hand and seal this day and date above above specified.
