West Point was a community on the north side of Defeated Creek at the Cumberland river.
A Tobacco wharehouse and a small port was established here in Feb 1829. Many tons of tobacco
passed through this port and also produce and other goods arrived and were shipped from here.

When the railroads came the steamboats began to decline as did the community of West Point.
The community was destroyed with the building of Cordell Hull Dam by 1962.
