Laycock Bridge
The Laycock Bridge spans the Caney Fork River near intersection of Clubb Springs Road
and Betty's Bend Road intersection. This one lane bridge is 794 feet long, 16 feet wide,
and 100 feet above the river. It was built in 1928 with a steel frame and wooden floor.
It was condemned by the state as unsafe in 1958 and temporarily closed in 1977. Plans
have been announced to replace it with a new bridge in the near future. The bridge was
named for the Laycock family who owned adjacent land and helped secure funds for its
building. Additional information is in History of Smith County, Tn page 244.
