Wesley G. and Barbary Rebeca Sircy
Wesley G. Searcy (Sircy) and wife Barbary Rebeca. Date of photo unknown. Wesley G.
Searcy was born 7 June 1828 TN and died 19 Nov 1901. He was the son of William
(Buck) Searcy (born 1783 NC and died 30 May 1855) and his unknown second wife.

Wesley married Barbary Rebeca on 5 Dec 1849. On the Smith Co TN marriage
license she was listed as Barbary Hunt. It is believed by many that her maiden
name was Thomas and that she was the daughter of Joseph Thomas and Matilda
Jones (daughter of Wiley Jones Sr. and wife Jane). Perhaps she was married to
a Hunt for a short while but research has proven no connection to the Smith Co
TN Hunt families. The maiden name Tomas was listed on the death certificate
of Barbary's son Willis. Birth and death information on Barbary Rebeca came
from her tombstone because all census records list her birth from 1828 to 1836.
Tombstone birth date is 10 May 1830 and death date is 7 Aug 1924. She died
one day before her son Willis M. Sircy. No death certificate has been found
nor any newspaper obits for Wesley or Barbary.

They are documented in the book on the Smith Co TN web page entitled
"William Buck Searcy family." There are mistakes in this book but it is an
excellent source to begin your search.

Recent research has proven and it should be noted that William Searcy's
second wife was not Mary Ann Reece. She was his third wife. She applied
for pensions after his death and much information on William Searcy's
family can be found in the pension papers.
