James Shoulders
James Alexander Shoulders was born March 14, 1883 and died January 17, 1950. He was the
son of Peter and Mary Jane Moss Shoulders, the grandson of Lincoln Shoulders and the great
grandson of Malachi and Mary 'Polly' Gregory Shoulders. James married Altie Mathews.
She is the daughter of William 'Billy' and Mary Frances 'Fanny' Mathews.
James and Altie were the parents of 8 children:
Estelle married Robert Petty

Bertha married John Wilmore and Oval Wilmore
Kirk married Annie Holliman
Lorene married Stanton West
Evia married Doyle Dillehay (my mother and father in law)
Mary married Clarence Nesbitt
Margaret , died at age 2
Thelma married Sterling Lankford and then Ernest Hackett
Altie Mathews Shoulders died a few days after giving birth to Thelma.

James Shoulders married a second time to Myrtle Hackett. No children from this marriage.
James Shoulders lived all his life in the Hackett Hollow of Smith Co. He, baby Margaret and
his two wives are buried there in the Shoulders Cemetery.

James Alexander and Myrtle Hackett Shoulders. The Hackett Hollow is named after Marshall
Hackett. The Father of Myrtle Hackett.

Walter Gregory was a half brother to Henry Beasley Gregory (my great grandfather)
He lived at Four Way Inn on Smith Branch in Monoville. Haynie Circle (Corner) is
between Monoville and Four Way Inn.
