Hugh Lawson and Polly Ann Kemp McCall
Hugh Lawson McCall was the son of Arris McCall b. ca. 1805 in Va. and probably Rebecca W. McCall
(1850 census) born Jan. 23, 1836 m. Mary Ann (Polly) Kemp b. Aug. 20, 1840, December 25, 1862.
He served as private in Co. H, 24thTennessee Infantry CSA. Polly Kemp was the daughter of William
Layton and Dorothy (Dollie) Pankey Kemp, Sr. Hugh Lawson and Polly had the following children,
Kittie E.(Carter), Arris Thomas, William Grant, Elizabeth(Law), Charlie J., and Mary R. (Mrs. Eltie
Jones). "Uncle Loss" died Jan. 11, 1923 and Polly (aunt Pop) died April 30,1912. They are buried in
McCall cemetery off Griggs Lane, Kempville.

Sarah Pankey Jones
This is Polly's aunt, sister to her mother Dorothy Pankey Kemp. Sarah was the daughter of
Ozyeah and Sarah Kirby Pankey of Difficult, Tenn..She had sisters: Dorothy m. Wm. Layton
Kemp Sr.; Judith m. John Wilson Kemp; Elizabeth m. Ellis B. Kemp; Susan m. Stephen Goad;
Alethea m. Henry Harold McClendon; Lucy m. Edmond Cowley; Pamela m. Alvin P. Cardwell.
Brothers: Jefferson Pankey d. around 1819 accidentally killed while riding a horse; and
Ozyeah Jr. d. around 1839 accidentally killed by lightning.

Sarah married Joseph F. Jones 20 August 1835. Smith Co., Tennessee. She was born in 1815.
She died 7th May 1877 in Jonesboro, Jackson Parish, La..Joseph died 10th Aug. 1890. They
are both buried in the City Cemetery in Jonesboro La, having moved to Louisiana in 1851
and in 1857 they bought land where the town of Jonesboro now stands, named for his family.
Their issue: Martha Jones 1836; Pamela Jones 1837; Richard Henry Jones 1839; John Newton
Jones 1841; William Layton Jones 1842; Tennessee Jones 1844; Columbus [Uncle Tobe] Jones
1846; Robert Henley Jones 1848; Louisa Jones 1852; and Sarah Jones 1853.
