CHARLES LEE KEMP 1944
Charles Lee Kemp was born in Hopkinsville, KY and moved to Florida during World War II.
He was in the U.S. Navy and was in 7 major battles in the Pacific even being awarded
the Bronze Star Medal for his actions in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He also saw the
flag raised at Iwo Jima. Charles Lee Kemp married Margaret Ann Jammel on June 7, 1942.
Margaret was born January 1, 1921 died January 12, 2004. They had 4 children, 10
grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

MARGARET ANN JAMMEL IN THE 1940'S


ABRAHAM ALBERT AND RAMZA A. JAMMEL
Margaret was a daughter of Abraham Albert Jammel and Ramza A. Moybed. Ramza came
to the United States from Damascus, Syria on August 28, 1912 on the Carpathia. The
ship that saved Titanic survivors just 4 months earlier. Ramza was born June 10,
1896 died January 10, 1987. Abraham was born May 2, 1893 died March 20, 1950.
Ramza and Abraham were married July 13, 1915 in Pawtucket, RI. They had 7 children.
Ramza is translated to Rose in English. She was called Granny Rose.
