William Jesse (Jabe) Gregory and Martha Susan Shoulders Gregory
William Jesse (Jabe) Gregory was the son of Bethel J. and Eliza Hall Gregory. Jabe was born Dec. 25, 1842
and died Jan. 25, 1934 at the age of 91. He joined the Civil War at the age of 18 to serve in place of his daddy.
Enlisting in Nashville, Tn. Jun. 27, 1861 and paroled on May 1, 1865 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Martha Susan Shoulders was born Dec. 4, 1844 and died Jan 21, 1921. Martha Susan was the daughter of
John and Catherine Shoulders. Jabe and Martha were married in Jul 1865. They were the parents of 9 children:
Arrie Gregory married Elija Earps, John B. Gregory married Mary Richmond, James H. (Jim) Gregory
married Jamie Oldham, Alice Gregory married John Richmond, Eliza Gregory married Henry Richmond,
Howard Gregory married Maude Kemp, Hershel Gregory married Matilda Turner, William who never
married and Atlas Gregory married Altie Gregory

Jabe and Martha Susan Gregory are burried at the family cemetery known as the Jabe Gregory Cemetery:

Dixon Springs Cemetery Decoration Day
This picture was taken at the Dixon Springs Cemetery on Decoration Day
probably in 1932 or 1933. The center gentlemen is William Jesse (Jabe) Gregory
the other gentlemen on either side of Jabe are unknown to me. At the time this
picture was made they were the only surviving soldiers of the Cival War in
the area. William Jesse (Jabe) Gregory was my Grand-Father.
