Veterans Reunion At New Middleton
Civil War Veterans taken in front of the L. Ferguson house in New Middleton
This may be a joint meeting of both Confederate and Union Veterans some names
are taken from the Smith County History Book. There is some questions about if
these are all Civil War Veterans see Marie's comments below.

Front Row - 2nd from left - Thomas Morris, 3rd from left - Dock Allen
4th from left - Brown Denney
Back Row - 1st from left - Col James M. Gill, 5th from left - Wyatt Denny

These comments provided by Marie Reasonover:
I know that Thomas Morris (pvt Co C 2nd Walker Inf & 3rd Tenn Inf)
(gr-grandfather) Thomas C. Bradford (Pvt Co D 9th Cav) (my gr-father)
Dock Allen (my gr-grandfather) Wyatt Denny and Col James M. Gill.
These are the only ones my uncle could identify.

Col James M. Gill looks younger than most in the picture and among the
very few without a beard. I find no James M. Gill on the Civil War records
in the units from the New Middleton area. Could he have gotten the rank in
the Spanish American War? If anyone can provide data about this Col. James
M. Gill or identify any other members of this group feel free to do so.

A copy of this picture also appeared on page 75 in the 1987 History of Smith Co
