Herbert died at 13 months from injuries from inhaling hot coals or having his gown
catch on fire. ( I have heard several different versions to this tragedy)

Alexander “Roscoe” ‘Pappy’ Brooks and Rosetta Frances (Shepherd) “Mammy”Brooks
Family. Roscoe, son of Jackson Perry and Martha Phillips Brooks, was born April
26, 1877 and died May 5th 1967. Rosetta, daughter of T.T. ‘Tom’ Shepherd and
Mary S. Mitchell, was born Oct 7th 1875 and died August 4th 1942
They were the parents of 11 children. Two died young: Herbert and Agnes Brooks

Old Brooks Place
The old Brooks place is located in Dillehay Hollow. This 2 story is the home
where Roscoe and Rosetta Shepherd Brooks raised their children . I've recently
heard, it may have been built by some of his brothers.
