Calvin And Susan Gregory Beasley
Pictured are Calvin and Susan Gregory Beasley in about 1875.
Calvin was born Apr 4, 1815 and died Apr 24, 1897. He was the son of Braddock Beasley.
Braddock was the son of Isham and Polly Andrews Beasley. Isham and Polly are the ancestors
of about all the Beasleys of Smith County. Susan, born Jan 10, 1824 and died Sep 17, 1891,
was the daughter of Big Tom and Betty Gregory. Calvin and Susan became the parents of a
number of children and resided near Mt. Tabor Baptist Church two miles south of Pleasant Shade.
Two of their children were Jesse and Henry and they are shown on this website.

Calvin and Susan are buried in the Beasley Cemetery adjacent to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Calvin served in the Union Army during the Civil War. No. 188-3(1); As Pvt in L Co 5th Tn Calvary.
This caused much dessention within the family and community.

The Cal's Column Article (Feb 12, 1953) of this website includes a story of the fight between
Calvin and Dob Gregory (first cousin-once-removed of Susan) due to a dispute concerning the Civil War.
