William Haynie Sr. ----- -- 1826 Revolutionary Soldier buried here.

James Haynie
James Haynie was to old to fight in the Civil War so he served as CSA conscription agent.
He came home and signed up some new recuits and the day before they were to leave one
of them shot him because he had decided he did not want to go. As they were conducting
the funeral at this cemetery a Yankee calvary patrol came by and the officer of the patrol,
who was a Mason and discovering that the deceased Confederate soldier was also a
Mason gave orders for his troops to line up for a honorary salute.
