I am looking for the parents of John CATLETT, b. 1784 in Va. John came to Sevier County with two brothers, Richard and Benjamin in the late 1700's or early 1800's. John was a carpenter, Richard was a hatter and their brother Benjamin was a tavern keeper. John CATLETT was the father of my gggrandmother Martha Jane CATLETT who was born in 1829 in Sevier Co, TN. She md. James BROCK circa 1848 and they had 13 children. Anyone with info I will be happy to exchange what I have on this family. I do know they came to the Americas in the 1600's and settled originally in Virginia. Thanks in advance for your help.

John KERR Sr. was my ggggrandfather. He was married to Martha (?). They lived in Sevier Co, but originally emigrated from No. Carolina, Caswell C. They settled in Sevier County circa 1796. He died 1839 and left a will naming his children as follows: John KERR Jr., Daniel KERR, Polly KERR, Fatha KERR, and his wife Martha. I am trying to identify John KERR Sr.'s parents. I was told his father's name was Alexander, but now I am not sure if Alexander KERR from Caswell Co. is indeed his father. If anyone is researching this same family I will be happy to share info. Searching for information on GOTTFRIED (KERCHER) CARRIGER, SR.. A Tennessee Historical Commission plaque "CARRIGER'S LANDING" now stands in the Hunter Community of Carter County documenting the CARRIGER family's mark on early Carter County history. Gottfried and Anna Margaratha Anspach CARRIGER had the following children: Nicholas, Michael, John, Elizabeth, Godfrey, Jr. and Christian. In 1811 Nicholas and Catherine CARRIGER and all of their known children moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee. Many of Nicholas's children later migrated into Greene County, Illinois. Christian and Levicy WARD CARRIGER had fourteen children, all of whom were born in Carter County. In 1842 Christian and Levicy and some of the younger children left Carter County and settled in Independence, Missouri. Nicholas CARRIGER (the son of Christian CARRIGER) became a selfmade historian having documented the events of the CARRIGER family to become the sixth family to "OVERLAND IN 1846". Other surnames connected to the Carriger marriage in Carter County are: William WARD & ANN VANDERPOOL - Teeter NAVE & Rebecca BOWERS , Isaac & Mary LINCOLN - Daniel & Phoebe STOVER - Mary "Molly" MORRELL - William or MARY FITZSIMMONS.

Seeking info on THOMAS MILLARD FILMORE MAPLES,b. August 23, 1856. He was married to Julia F. ??. She was born August 26, 1848. THOMAS was a store clerk and a Sheriff in Sevier Co. during the WHITE CAPS reign of terror. He moved to Knoxville, TN in 1904. During this time he was a policeman (?), liquor salesman and a saloon owner. He was shot and killed by James P. Lay in a saloon on the bowery in Knoxville. He died April 4, 1907 and is buried in the Redbank Cemetery in Sevier Co. According to oral family history he is the father of my grandmother, MOLLIE BELLE BROCK. Henry left his wife and children and "ran" off with her sister Nancy Jane DARNELL b.Petersburg, TN and migrated to Kemp, Indian Territory. There was no communication, as I am told, between the sisters or their families after this. The father of the Darnell Sisters may be James DARNELL. Seeking information on Thomas FOX, an irish potato famine immigrant, who settled in the Webbs Creek Area of Sevier County, circa 1866. Thomas was married to Mary Ann BROWN of Washington County in 1854. He had two sons, Nicholas Brown FOX and William Thomas FOX, and two daughters, Margaret and Martha B. Martha died in 1880. Nicholas moved to Cocke County. William Thomas moved to Lawrence County. Margaret's whereabouts unknown. In 1880 Census she was still living at home keeping house.

John KERR Sr married Martha about 1792 and they had Daniel 1794-1875, John Jr 1798- , Fatha 1797-aft 1850, and Polly b. abt 1800. Daniel KERR married Sarah PETTY 1820-?, possibly dau. of James PETTY. Their children were, Sarah E. 1850-1894, m. William M. Roberts, Henry C. b. abt 1844 m. Elizabeth, Daniel W. b. 1845 m. Delila Finchum, Web P. b. abt 1846 and died in Andersonville Prison but had two daughters, Web's wife's name may have been Delila, Harriett b. 1848, Manerva 1853-1891, m. REED-REID-READ-Looking for parents of Grace (GRACY)REED, died Apr 30, 1864, buried at Alders Branch Cem, Sevier Co. TN. Grace was married to Elisha ROBERTS. Census records indicate several REEDS in Sevier county that could have either been her father or brothers. 1830 census name Charles and John REID. 1840 census list Charles, Samuel, Andrew J., Jesse, Nathaniel, and William REED. I would like to know more about the Reed's in the census's to determine or eliminate them as related to Grace.

PETTY- Looking for information on Sarah PETTY b. abt 1819-1921 and died in Sevier Co., m. to Daniel KERR, Sarah's fathers name may have been James PETTY, but this is not verified and I would like to know more about the PETTY's of Sevier Co.In the 1830 Sevier Co. Census, besides listing James, there also appear the names, Horatio,and John PETTY. Nearby in Jefferson Co. is a William PETTY. I would appreciate knowing about the PETTY'S in the census.
