LAXTON, LUCINDA ACRES – was born April 15, 1857, Deceased this life November 27, 1943. She lived a Christian life for about 56 years. Joined the New Salem Church at the age of thirty, and was organized into Mount Zion Church, and when Salem was organized she was a charter member, and lived there until her death. She was a devoted Christian and set a good example for all her children and friends to follow. (Source:  West Union Association of United Baptists Minutes, 1944)
