GIBSON, JOE A. - age 78, of Rugby passed away Wednesday, July 28, 1999 in Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital following a long illness. He was a veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Robert Gibson of Sunbright. He is survived by: nieces and nephews, Susie Gibson, Johnny Gibson, Bobby Gibson, Amanda Gibson, Barbara Milliken, Daron Gibson, Travis Hale, and Bobby Gibson, Jr.; 1 sister, Tessi Morabito; many faithful friends, including, Rita Myers, Teresa Coker, and Jim Carey. The family will receive friends Friday evening, July 30, 1999 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home in Sunbright. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, July 31, 11:00 a.m. in the Christ Church in Rugby with Father Don Phike officiating. Interment will follow in Laural Dale Cemetery with Military honors. Schubert Funeral Home.
GIBSON, LAKIE LEE – 80, passed away at Scott County Hospital on Tuesday, May 30, 2000. She was the daughter of the late JONAH HONEYCUTT and VINA CHAMBERS HONEYCUTT and was also preceded in death by her husband, HURSTLE GIBSON; three sons; two daughters; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Jake's Branch Baptist Church. Survivors include 10 children, ROSA LAWSON of Winona, ODIS and LAURA ABBOTT of Georgia, LOU JEAN and FRANKIE HARNESS of the Buffalo community, OLA MAE and KEITH JEFFERS of Annadale, PHILLIS and PAUL TERRY of Winona, JERRY and PHYLLIS GIBSON, and BILLY and KATHY GIBSON all of Buffalo, BENNY and DEBBIE GIBSON of Straight Fork, SHARON HALL of Oneida, and JOHN and LYNN GIBSON of Buffalo; one step-son, PRESTON and RUTH JEFFERS of Arkansas; one sister, ELLAREE YANCEY of Cherry Fork; 47 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 2, at 12 noon, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. CARLIE DUNCAN and Rev. GARY CRABTREE officiating. The New Country Gospel sang.
