NEW RCHS CEMETERY BOOK
| The new cemetery book
will be about 700 pages and hard bound. Prepayment of $50 + $10 shipping/handling for the book will be accepted until March 1, 2005. After that date the cost will be $75.00 + $10 shipping/handling. Our aim is to send to printer by March 1, 2005. There is still plenty of time to add to and correct. As to the index- - - it is an every name index, i.e. last name, followed by every first name and middle names and in the case of females followed by maiden name. Then that female will also be indexed by her maiden last name and first name. Each name will be followed by a page number where that individual will be found. Each cemetery is numbered and named with a quadrangle (e.g. Murfreesboro Quadrangle, Rockvale Quadrangle, etc.) along with as complete a description as possible of the location of the cemetery. The number of the cemetery will be identified on the quadrangle. When there was a question in the older publications I did some checking on the various census records on Ancestry.com for comparison (I have a subscription to the census records so can look at the actual census digital recording). The book will contain information found in the 3 Rutherford Co. Cemetery volumes, "Some Rutherford County Cemetery Records" compiled by Garrett & McLain, several manuscript sources of Old City Cemetery records, including those done recently by Dr. Smith at MTSU when he did his archaeological dig, the Evergreen Cemetery recordings compiled by Porch, and Mapleview Cemetery. (Roselawn Cemetery and the Stones River Battlefield Cemeteries have been excluded). I have included scatterings of Bible Records when associated with particular cemeteries. I have also abstracted names and dates from the First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro Session Records, as well as some newspaper obituaries. RCHS Contact- sgdaniel@comcast.net |
