Susan M. Scrape Hatchett

Susan M. Scrape Hatchett she was born in 1832 in Rutherford County,
Tennessee near Murfreesboro.  She was the daughter of James D. Scrape who
was an Englishman and Sarah D. Elder who was the daughter of William Elder
and Mary Towler.  Mary's father was Benjamin Towler who served as a private
in the Virginia Line during the American Revolution. Susan had a brother
named William Henry Scrape Sr.  She married Samuel Watkins Hatchett on
October 21,1852 in Gibson County, Tennessee, who was the Gibson County Clerk
and a bank teller.  Susan died about 1870 in Gibson County, and is buried in
the old part of Oakland Cemetery in Trenton in an unmarked grave.  Susan had
several sisters, onewho was Eliza Eleanor Scrape McGee who was married to
Richard Bartley McGee,a newspaper editor in Gibson County.
 Another sister, Sarah E. Scrape McGee Harrison was married to William Carrol
McGee, brother of Richard Bartley McGee and then to W.W. Harrison. Susan also
had a sister named Amanda A. Scrape whom I believe died before 1848. Susan and
Samuel had a son who was named Walter E. Hatchett who is the child in the picture. 
He was born on February 18, 1860 in Gibson County, TN. and he died
July 10, 1934 in Gibson County, TN.
