This Indenture made and Executed this 20th
day November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventeen between
Samuel Wilson agent and Attorney in fact John Bowls Of the one part and William Elder of the County
of Rutherford And the State of Tennessee of the other part. Witnessed: That this said Samuel Wilson agent
& attorney in fact For said John Bowls for and in consideration
of the sum of one thousand,two hundred, and ninety dollars in hand paid by the E. William Elder to the said Samuel agent
and attorney in fact for the said John Bowls,he the said Samuel Wilson agent &
attorney For the said John Bowls hath and doth sell
and covey unto this said William Elder this following tract of land
lying and being in the county aforesaid. On the Waters of Overall Fork beginning on a post
oak and hickory on Burrow’s south boundary line runs hence South one hundred and thirtyone poles to a
post oak on Hiram Jenkins south boundary line hence on the same____ one hundred And fifty eight poles to an Elm, hence north
one hundred and thirtyone poles to a hickory east one hundred and fiftyeight poles To the beginning . Continuing one hundred
and twentynine.assigns To have and to hold to this said William Elder,
his heirs executor And assigns forever,together with this_______thereto
belonging And this said Samuel Wilson agent and attorney
in fact for the said John Bowls for the said Bowls and his heirs executorand assigns doth covenant to and with the said William Elder,his heirs executor And assigns that they and each of them will
warrant and defend the above described land and premises unto the said William his
heirs And assigns against the lawful claim or claim

it made known to all) People who it may concern, that I William Elder of the of the
County and State above written for very good causes & valuable consideration of
the sum of eight hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt and payment whereof I do hereby
acknowledge paid to me
by my son Thomas Elder, I have by these present and for the payment of the above
named sum bargained and sold to him the above named Thomas Elder all my right
title & interest of the following property namely ( to wit.) a wagon with all the harness belonging to
the same, a gray mare known by the name of Kitt, a bay horse known by the of Lorn, one
gray horse known by the name of John which above bargained property as described as above
I warrant and forever defend unto the said Thomas Elder against me and my heirs
and against the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatever sitting of

This Indenture made this 15th day of January
1820, between William Elder of the County of Rutherford and State of Tennessee
of the first part and Benjamin Towler of the County and State afore said of the second
part. Witnessed that the said William Elderfor and
in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars,who the said Benjamin Towler
has become bound to pay to John Bowles for the said William Elder,he the said
William Elder hath and doth by these present ___and convey to the said Benjamin Towler, Three feather beds and furniture,one bureau,one
sugar chest, one cherry table,one loom, six chairs, two saddles,one spinning
wheel,together with the balance of all my household and kitchen furniture,all my farming
utensils, Eight head of cattle, sixty head of hogs,
and Elder’s crop of tobacco,corn, Fodder,oats,and cotton. He to have and to
hold the afore said articles to the said Benjamin Towler,his heirs executors and assigns
in trust to and for the Following use to wit to secure the payment
of the said sum of eight hundred Dollars to the said Bowles, which Towler as
afore said bound to pay, and its also agreed by and between the said parties all
and every of the before listed articles may remain in possession of said William Elder
until it shall become necessary to sale and dispose of them to pay and discharge the Before listed debt so as afore said _____
to the said Bowles by the said Elder & the said Towler. And it is also
further agreed by and between The said parties that when the said William
Elder shall pay and satisfy The before listed debt to the said Bowles
and I and the said Towler___ & free from ____ to pay the sum then this
indenture to be void. Otherwise to remain in full force & virtue. And the said William Elder here warranty the
list of all the recited articles To the said Benjamin Towler & that he

This Indenture made and executed the tenth
day of June 1818, between William Lytle of the County of Rutherford and State of Tennessee
of the one part and William Elder and James Bass of the other part. _______that
the said Lytle for the consideration of Three Hundred and Twenty Five Dollars Have and do by these present sell and convey
to the said William Elder & James Bass a tract or parcel of ground adjoining the
town of Murfreesborough on the north boundary, containing one half acre more or
less, and known & distinguished in the plot of twenty nine lots laid off along The northern boundary line of town by lot
no. 96 to have and to hold to the said William Elder and James Bass and their heirs
and assigns forever the afore said lot of ground . Bonds the said William Lytle for

William Elder To Deed James D. Scrape This Indenture made this 5th day of January
in the year of our Lord 1820 between William Elder of the state of Tennessee, Rutherford County of the one part, and James
D. Scrape of the said state and county aforesaid of the other part. _____that for the sum of five hundred Dollars
in hand paid to the above named William Elder by the said James D. Scrape at and before
these present the receipt and payment whereof he the said William Elder by these
present doth acknowedge and he therefore ____these present hath bargained, granted, and sold to the above named James
D. Scrape and his heirs and ____ a tract or parcel of lands containing fifty acres,
situated lying and being in the County of Rutherford on the Waters
of Overall Creek. And the same fifty acres being the west boundary parts of said William
Elder’s one hundred and thirty acre tract whereon he now lives. Beginning on a post
oak stump near D____ T. Burne__ and in the north boundary line whereon he now lives

SAMUEL GRIER and his wife RACHEL GRIER of Wilson County in the
State of Tennessee, SALLY McLIN of Wayne County in the State of Illinois,
SAMUEL McDANIEL and his wife JANE McDANIEL, RICHARD L. MCKNIGHT, and ELAM McKNIGHT
of Rutherford County in the State of Tennessee of the first
part, their being heirs at law of DAVID McKNIGHT deceased late of Rutherford County

This indenture, made this 17th day of March,
in the year 1837, between James W. Waller of the county of Rutherford and the
State of Tennessee of the one part, and Jeremiah Wade of the county and state aforesaid
of the other part; witnesseth that whereas the said James W. Waller is indebted
to the said Jeremiah Wade upon note under seal for the sum of one hundred dollars,
and on account for money lent for six (word indistinct) and whereas the said Jeremiah
Wade is the security on a note for the said James W. Waller to James Tompkins, Esq.
For seventy dollars due on the 7th day of (word scratched out-probably as it was
written) November next or thereabouts, said note being due (2 words indistinct) after
the date thereof and dated as well as recollected in November 1836. And security
on a note for forty-five dollars due on the 25th day of December 1836 to James Elliott.
I (word indistinct) and (word indistinct) as endorser on a note for fifty-seven dollars
to Isaac Hill. Said note being payable to the said Jeremiah for seventy-five dollars
and obliged by the said Jeremiah to the said Isaac Hill, having a credit on the same for
thirty dollars, said note due on the 25th day of December 1836, and (2 words indistinct)
as stay or of an Execution against said James W. in favor of Williamson Smith for
seventeen dollars or thereabouts. Now in consideration of the promises and the sum
of one dollar to the said James W. Waller, the said Jeremiah in hand paid the receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said James W. Waller has bargained and sold, and
by these presents does bargain and sell to the said Jeremiah Wade his heirs Executors
or administrators in trust the following articles of property, to wit one negro woman
slave named Judy aged about seventy-five years, one grey horse 7 years
old, 15 hogs, 1 red cow and calf, 1 red cow and a yearling, 3 red (word indistinct) cows
and yearlings, 1 red steer, 2 beds and furniture, trusseau, clock, 2 half round tables,
1 drafting table, cupboard, and one side saddle; to have and to hold the afore conveyed
property in trust for the following purposes and no other to wit. That when the
above debts specified shall become due to the said Jeremiah and unpaid, and judgements
shall have been obtained against him on the other specified debts as security as
aforesaid then the said Jeremiah is authorized to sell the same at public sale after advertising
the same at three public places in the county for ten days and apply the proceeds
to the payments of himself, and of the debts for which he is bound as security. It
is agreed that the property here conveyed remain in possession of the said James W.
Waller until the day of sale unless he should attempt to sell, destroy or remove the same
when the said Jeremiah is empowered to take the same into his own possession until
sold by virtue of this deed, but should the said James W. Waller well and truly pay the
said Jeremiah when his claim shall become due, and fully release and discharge him from
all liability as security for the above mentioned debts, then this indenture to be
void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect. Signed, sealed and delivered the day

I have this day bargained Sold and conveyed
and do hereby convey to James W. Waller for the sum of five dollars to me paid
and for other considerations hereinafter mentioned one small tract or lot of land lying
in Rutherford County Tennessee, District No. 1 and bounded on the north by the land
of James Smith on the east by the land of Merridith Sanders and the south and west by
the lands of John Specard and Garratt Sanders containing about five acres, also
two head of horses one milk cow eight head of hogs one bedstead bed and furniture and
one Spinning Machine. I covenant with the Said James W. Waller that I am lawfully possessed
of said property and have a good right to convey the Same and that it is unencumbered,
and I furthermore warrant and defend the title to all of Said property to
the Said Waller against the lawful claims of all persons whatever. But this conveyance is made
for the following uses and trusts that's (words indistinct) indebted to Rumsford McGregor
in the sum of fifty dollars due by note Sometime in the early part of 1840 and
also to John S. Richardson in the sum of about twenty dollars due by note about the
first of January 1843 and am desirous to Secure and make certain the payment of the
Same. Now if I should pay the said debts by the first day of January 1849 then this
deed to be void, But if not then the Said James W. Waller as trustee after giving twenty
days notice at three or more public places may (word indistinct) the Said land
and personal property above described to Public Sale or he may sell the Same privately
if he should think it best for my creditors aforesaid the Sale in either way to be for
cash and appropriate the proceeds thereof first to the payment of the necessary expenses

be any remaining to pay the same over to me. This the 7th of Jan. 1848

brother of Jas. Wm. who reportedly came to Rutherford County then went on to Hickman
County, KY between 1840 and 1844. This indenture made this twenty second of February
in the year of our Lord 1837 between Henry S. Crichlow the County of Williamson
and the State of Tennessee of the one part and Ephriam Waller of the County
of Rutherford and State of Tennessee the other part; Witnesseth that for and in
consideration of the Sum of Four hundred dollars by the said Ephriam to the said Henry
in hand paid at and before the Signing Sealing and delivery of these presents the

To all to whom these presents shall come greeting:
Know Ye, that in Consideration of Entry No.
404 made in the office of the Entry Taker
of Coffee County and entered on the 11th day
of January, 1847 Pursuant to the
provisions of an Act of the General Assembly
of said State proposed on the 9th day of January, 1830 there is granted by the said
State of Tennessee, unto Bryant Douglass a certain Tract or Parcel of Land containing
eighty-six acres and by survey, bearing date the seventh day
of February 1849 lying in Coffee County. On the head waters of the Garrison Fork of
Duck River Beginning on a hickory the North-east corner
of a fifty acre tract of land, belonging to said Douglas. Running East with the North
boundary line of a tract of land belonging to Peter Starnes forty five poles to a Cherry
tree corner on the top of a ridge. Thence on North with M Harold's line twenty-two poles to a
Poplar corner. Thence East 50 poles to a ulberry on James McCullough's West bounday
line. Thence North forty-six poles to a Hickory said McCullough's North-west corner.
Thence West twenty-six poles to a White Walnut in the hollow. Thence on North ???passing??? William Browns corner,
continuing North in along his line ninety-four poles to a Mulberry. Thence East
fifty-four poles to a stake. Thence West seventy-eight poles to a ??Lynn??? said Douglas
North-west corner of a tract purchased from Thomas Douglas. Thence South niney-four poles to said Douglass's line. Thence West eight-four poles to a Sugar
tree, the North-east corner of said Douglass fifty acre tract. Thence South ninety
poles to a stake. Thence East fourty poles to the Beginning.
With the hereditaments and appurtenances. To
have and to hold the said tract or parcel of LAND, with its appurtenances to the said
and his heirs forever. In Witness Wereof, Neil S. Brown, Governor of the State of Tennessee,
hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed
at Nashville on the 25th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and forty nine and of the Independence of the United State the seventy-fourth
