of Henry, via the son below, named John Henry Daniel.
 
Henry T. Daniel (Jr) born Feb 1834 Goochland Co, Va. was the son ofHENRY T.
DANIEL (Sr) and wife Virginia SHIPP.  Henry and Virginia Shipp Daniel came
from Virginia to Rutherford Co, Tn by 1840. He was the last of his siblings
to arrive. (Two of his older brothers had migrated by 1820). Henry (Sr) died
between 1841 and 1849 in Rutherford, his wife Virginia lived considerably
longer. Have probate records on these, not included here. I've documented
this Daniel line back to ca 1672 in Virginia.
 

HENRY T. DANIEL (Jr)  came to Rutherford Co, Tn by 1840 (as small child) and
lived most of his life here. Have all the census he ever appeared in from
1840 to 1900 and many of his deeds. Henry lived mostly in the Big Spring
district of Rutherford County (or district 24, probably same). I have never
found that he served in the Civil War even tho most of his brothers and
cousins did.
      He married MARTHA MINERVA BROWN 11 Dec 1854 in Rutherford Co (the
daughter of John and Charlotte Brown of Georgia).  He and M. Minerva migrated
between 1882 and 1899 to Marshall Co, Tn where it is believed he died between
1901 and 1909, she died after 1910, probably both in Marshall Co, Tn. Have
not found their burial places. One son remained in Rutherford Co, Tn at least
until 1920.  By 1900, 2 of their 6 children had died. Two of their children
came to Texas, maybe more: 2 of these married there 1883 and 1889. One son
left Hunt Co by 1910 to Denison, Grayson Co, Tx.

 By 1900, Martha Minerva said, 2 of her 6 children had already died. In
family correspondence of 1966, only 4 children  named:  John H., Joe (Josiah
T.), Bee (Mary Beatrice.) and Betty (L. Elisabeth)
 

   1. JOHN HENRY DANIEL  b 2 Oct 1855 Tn, d 8 Jan 1927 Grayson Co, Tx bur
Fairview Cem there. Married Sallie McULMURRY in 1883 Hunt Co, TX.   John
Henry had 4 children,  Clayborne T., John Harold, David Elisha, &
Orpha(female).  All born in Caddo  Mills, Hunt Co, TX.   John Henry's
tombstone said he was born 2 Oct 1855 Murfreesboro, Tn died Jan 8, 1827, the
“son of Thomas H. and Minerva Bowman. The tombstone data is slightly wrong
since his father was Henry Thomas and his mother's maiden name was Brown, not
Bowman. John Henry was a teacher and minister (Church of Christ) since the
1870s in north Texas.
   2. JOSIAH T. 'Joe' DANIEL b 1858-1859 Tn,  listed 1920 Rutherford Co, Tn
census with wife and kids, by 1927 in Columbia, Maury Co, Tn.
   3.  MARY BEATRICE  ‘Bee’ DANIEL b Nov 1861 d aft 1910...described as
divorced in 1900 Marshall Co, Tn census, retained her last name of Daniel and
her son (Lemmie V.) as well, widowed in 1910 Marshall Co, Tn census, living
with widowed mother, but Mary's last name and her 2 sons, is now CHILDRESS
(in 1910)  Old letter of 1966 says Bee Daniel had 2 boys, Roy T. and Lemmie
   4. MARTHA J. 'Mattie' DANIEL b 1864-5 with parents 1880, likely died by
1900
   5. L. ELIZABETH 'Bettie' DANIEL b 1865-6, with parents 1880, m 17 Feb 1889
in Hunt Co, Tx to John L. PATTON.  An old letter from wife of Bettie's nephew
(1966) said: Betty had 2 kids, Bud and Shine Daniel.
   6. LOWELL DANIEL  b 1869 Tn, not with family in 1880 (pretty sure he was
one of the two that died by 1900)

1840 Rutherford Co, CENSUS: (At this time Henry T. Daniel Sr and family had
not been in Rutherford Co, Tn very long, he was one of the last of his
siblings to bring their families from Virginia. Other grown siblings had come
as early as 1820).
    pg 109  H. T. Daniel (Sr) age 30-40, wife (Virginia) same age, + 5
children, no slaves, children listed: 1 boy and 1 girl age 0-5, 2 boys age
5-10*, 1 boy age 10-15.    (They would have 1 more child born after this, in
1841)  Neighbors: Wm/John Knox, Mathias Hoover, Jesse Sage, Thomas Mayfield,
Thomas Prater, Jeremiah Jacobs.
   *NOTE: one of the boys age 5-10 would be Henry T. Daniel Jr. born Feb 1834

Tenn, Robert B. Daniel 11 b Tenn and  Lucy Daniel 9 b ca 1841 N. C.
Neighbors in 1850:  families of Martin, Gum, Williams, Hoover, Bowen and
Robinson.
 

 1860 Rutherford Co, Tn CENSUS,  Big Springs dst, Post office town of
Carlocksville, p 100B fam #622:  Tom Daniel (Henry Thomas) 28 Tn (error, he
was born Va.), owns no real estate, and $800 personal prop, wife M. M. 25 Tn
+ 2 kids at home:  J. H. age 5 and Josiah age 2.  Note: This is family of
Henry T. Daniel Jr.......Not far is Henry’s widowed mother (Virginia Shipp
Daniel)
    p 103: Virginia Daniel 58 b Va, farmer with $2000 real est, $350 property
with 3 females still at home, all b Tn,  M. J. 24, D. H. 5, N. F. (N. H.?) 2.
     Next door is fam #621: elderly Charlotte Brown age 60 b Tn (error, was
Ga.)  mother of M. Minerva Brown Daniel. Not far away, fam #619 p 100A:  E.
Brown and wife L. J. (Edmund T. Brown and wife Louisa J. Bowman) and their
family.
 

1870 Rutherford Co, Tn CENSUS,  dist 24 town of Murfreesboro, p 204 (p 7) hh
#67 Henry Daniel (Henry T. Jr) 36 b ca 1834 Va, owns $4000 real est and $1000
personal prop, wife Martha 35 Tn, all 6 kids born Tn, oldest 4 were in
school: John H. 14, Josiah 11, Mary B. 8, Martha 6, Elisabeth 5, Lowell
1(boy).
    Not far, p 203B, hh #61:  Edward Brown (error, Edmund Brown), 2nd wife
Louisa (Louisa J. Bowman) and 10 kids (some were his kids by his first wife)
 

1880 Rutherford Co, Tn CENSUS, Civil Dist 25, ED 207 p 10: hh# 79: H. T.
Daniel 46 b Va, both his parents born Va; M. M. 45 born Tn, her father born
NC, her mother born Georgia, + 4 kids. Only 4 kids at home all born Tn:  J.
T. 21 (I'm pretty sure this is Josiah T.), M. B. (Bee) 18 girl, M. J.(Martha)
15 girl, L. E. (Bettie) 14 girl. (Both families on either side of Henry and
Minerva had either typhoid fever or diphtheria, so guess it was raging thru
the community.).
 
1900 Marshall Co, Tn CENSUS, dist 11, ED 89, pg 2A, hh# 23:  Henry T. Daniel
age 66 b Feb 1834 Va, both parents born Va, owns farm, married 45 yrs, wife
Martha M. b Sept 1834 Tn + both her parents born Georgia, had 6 kids only 4
alive. Only one child at home:
    and that was daughter, Mary B. Daniel b Nov 1861 (her father born Va.,
her mother b Tn) DIVORCED, dressmaker  (had 5 kids only 2 alive).
    (grandsons, Mary's kids) Lemmir V.(?Lemmie or Louis) Daniel b Feb 1884,
Roy T. Daniel b Sept 1886. both were 'day laborers' even tho in their teens.

and Franklin Pike,  HH #41: Martha M. Daniel 75 (b ca 1835) born Tn and both
her parents born Georgia, WIDOWED, dtr Mary B. Childress age 49, born Tn,
father born Va., mother born Tn, WIDOWED, grandson Louis V. Childress 26 b Tn
and both his parents b Tn.
