Welcome to Rutherford County, in the Heart of Tennessee.  We're glad you stopped by and we hope you find something of interest.  Rutherford County is just a smile down I-24 from Nashville, the capital of Tennessee and the home of our Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators.

Rutherford County is located in Middle Tennessee, one of the three "grand divisions" of Tennessee. The County seat is the beautiful old city of Murfreesboro, and is the home of Middle Tennessee State University. (Lets GROW BLUE!) MTSU has a student base of over 22,000 and is now the largest undergraduate university in the State of Tennessee.

The Albert Gore, Sr. Research Center is located at MTSU and is a goldmine for the genealogy researcher and anyone studying Rutherford and its people.

Don't forget the Archives! 435 Rice St, Murfreesboro.  John Lodl and his staff do a wonderful job and we thank them! Nicest folks in the 'Boro.

Many thanks to Kristi Moffitt for this picture.  Please look at it and if you know where it was taken, who is in it or any facts about it please let me know.
It says, "Mildred School Picture" on the back.  The thought is that it was taken around Lascassas, 1890-1900.  (I think it's the Lascassas Advanced School 1896)
