         I William Shannon have this day Bargained & sold & do hereby Transfer and Convey to Gardner Ellison and his heirs forever for the consideration of Twenty five dollars to him paid a Tract of land (ie) all the right title claim and interest that Alfred M. Crabtree had in and to a Tract of land in the State of Tennessee Robertson County district no. Eleveth (sic) Containing by estimation [blank] acres more or less it being part of a Tract of land whereon Benjamin Crabtree last lived before his death To have and to hold to the said Gardner Ellison his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said Gardner Ellison that I am lawfully Seized of said land have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and Representatives to Warrant and forever defend the title to said land and any part thereof to the said Gardner Ellison his heirs and assigns against the lawful Claims of all persons Whatever. This 23rd day of January 1840.
