         Whereas by descent from Hugh Shannon dec’d, we Elizabeth Shannon, William T. Shannon, John C. Shannon, James Shannon, Ann Shannon, Thomas I. Ivy and wife Jane Ivy, formally Jane Shannon, have derived title to and now ___ equal and undivided interest in a tract of land in the State of Tennessee, Robertson County and District No.11, bounded as follows: Beginning on a red oak running East one hundred and thirty six poles to two small post oaks, thence North forty three poles to a stake, thence East seventy nine poles to a small hickory, thence North one hundred and thirty two and a half poles to a black gum, thence East one hundred and twenty three and a half poles to a stake, thence North sixty two & a fourth poles to a white oak, thence West fifty eight poles to a white oak, thence South fifty six and a fourth poles to a white oak John Strains South East corner, thence West two hundred and thirty six poles to a post oak, thence North seven poles to a post oak, thence West fore & two poles to a stake, thence South one hundred and eight poles to a black jack, thence West twenty four poles to a post oak, thence South eighty eight poles to the Beginning, containing by estimation two hundred and thirty nine acres and eighty poles. Now we have bargained, sold and do hereby transfer and convey all our rights titles, and interest in and to said land to David Cook and his heirs for the sum of seven hundred and ninety eight dollars and thirty six cents to ____ the receipt and payment of which is hereby acknowledged. To have and to hold the same to the said David Cook his heirs and assigns forever. We covenant with said David Cook that we are lawfully seized of said land, have a good right to convey it and that the same is unencumbered. We do further covenant and bind ourselves, our heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to all our undivided interest in said land and every part of our interest thereof to the said David Cook his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatsoever, this 15th day of September 1849.          Personally appeared before me Joseph E. Winfield clerk of the County Court for said County W.A. Cook & John White subscribing witnesses to the within named deed, who being first sworn depose and say that they are acquainted with Elizabeth Shannon, William P. Shannon, John C. Shannon & Ann Shannon the bargainers and that they acknowledged the same in their presence to be their act and deed upon the present day and also personally appeared before me Thomas I. Ivy one of the within named bargainers with whom I am personally acquainted and who acknowledged that he executed the within deed for the purpose therein contained, and Jane Ivy the ___ court, having also personally appeared before me privately and apart from her husband the said Thomas I. Ivy and acknowledged the execution of said deed to have been done by her freely, voluntarily and understandingly without compulsion or restraint from her said husband and for the purpose therein expressed.
