         Mariah C. Newton & others of Ovil Row July 2st 1841State of Tennessee Robertson County. For the lov and affection I entertain for my Children I do hereby give transfer and convey to them in the following manner to wit, I give to my Daughter Mariah C. Newton one dollar to my son John L. Row one dollar I give to my Daughter Mary Ann Harris & Hester Ann Row during the natural life of Mary Perry two slaves to wit Delpha & Metilda and also the one half of my interest due from the estate of Joseph Perry Dec'd or which may hereafter become due. and I give to my Daughter Rachel Row the one half of my Intrest due from the estate of Joseph Perry Dec'd or Which may hereafter become due for them to have and to hold in fee simple forever with the exception I reserve the right of acting as Guardian or appointing such other as I may think proper for Hester Ann Row & Rachel Row Signed and sealed with my hand this 2nd day of July 1841.

         Personally appeared before me Joseph E. Winfield clk of the County Court for the County aforesaid Ovil Row the bargainor with whom I am personally acquainted & who acknowledged in my presence that he Executed the same for the purposes therein mentioned Given under my hand at office this 2nd day of July 1841.

         Comment by Julia Ryden: Interesting that Ovil gives nothing to his wife, Hannah, who out lives him by some 24 or more years. Ovil dies in Aug. 1842 and Hannah is forced to live first with son John L., then with daughter Hester in Atchison Co., Kansas.
