North Carolina, To James Hunt, April 16th 1798

         Know ye, that we, pursuant to an Act of the General Assembly, entitled an Act for the relief of the Officers and Soldiers in the Continental Line, and for and in consideration of the signal bravery and persevering zeal of Mathe Ballentine, private in said line, have given, granted and by these presents do give and grant unto James Hunt, Assignee of said Ballentine, A tract of land containing Six Hundred and Forty acres, lying and being in the County or Robertson lying on the West Waters of Spring Creek, the waters of Sycamore Creek on the North side of Cumberland River:--- Beginning at a large black oak on a pond Robert Weakleys North West corner on Henry Hides line; runs with said Hides line West ten chain ten links to a dogwood, and small white oak said Hides corner with his line North fifty chains to a small hickory sassafras and dogwood on Samuel Manoms line; thence with said Manoms line east forty three chains seventy lines to a white oak; thence North thirty Five degrees, East thirty five chains to a hickory and black oak Robert Weakleys Line and corner; thence with his line North thirty five chains to the beginning, as by the plat hereunto annexed doth appear together with all woods waters mines minerals hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or appertaining. To hold to the said James Hunt his heirs and assigns forever. Which land was surveyed April 6, 1797, by Robert Weakley, D.S. Warrant No.3753,
