         This Indenture made on the 16th day of May one thousand eight hundred and fifty three, between John W. Jerningan, Lerory Covington, Nicholas Covington, John Gilbert, and William Armstrong Trustees in ______ for the Methodist & Espiscopal Church for th____ of the one part, & William T. Jernigan of the other part, all of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee, Witnesseth that the said Trustees have this day bargained, sold & sold & delivered to the said William Jernigan, a certain lot of ground with all its appurtenances, bounded as follows: Beginning at a white oak on Herringtons fork of Red River, and running thence North across the river thirty six poles to a spanish oak above the Spring, thence South West fourty four poles to a sycamore on the bank of the river, thence East twenty two poles to the Beginning including three acres and a Half, be the same more or less for the Sum of twenty five dollars, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, and we four _____ do Warrant and defend the title against all other claims whatever, as witness whereof we have __________ set our hands and affixed our seals, the day and date above mentioned. Received 6 July 1853 at 12 ock M.

         Personally appeared before me Robt H. Murphey clk of the County Court for said County, James L. Jones & L.B. Jernigan subscribing witnesses to the within deed, who being first sworn depose and say that they are acquainted with John W. Jernigan, L. Covington, N. Covington, J. Gilbert & Wm. Armstrong the bargainors and that they acknowledged the same to be their act and deed for the purposes therein contained on or about the day it bears date. Witness my hand at office this 4th day of July 1853.
