         I John L. Durrett have this day bargained and sold, and do hereby transfer and convey to William P. Jernigan his heirs forever, for the consideration of three hundred and fifteen dollars to me paid, a certain tract of land, in the State of Tennessee, Robertson County & District No. 11, containing by estimation ninety acres, be the same more or less, and bounded as follows: Beginning on a white oak, thence East one hundred and thirty seven poles to a rock Bratin Jernigan’s corner, thence North seven poles to a dogwood, thence East fifty poles to a red oak near the road, thence South with the meanders of the said to John Gilbert’s north boundary line, thence West with the said Gilbert’s line, to the creek, thence North with the meanders of the same to a persimon corner, thence North 38 degrees West fifty nine poles to the Beginning. To have and to hold the same to the said W.P. Jernigan his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said W.P. Jernigan, that I am lawfully seized of said land, have a good right to convey it and that the land is unencumbered. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and Representatives to Warrant and forever defend the title to the said land and every part thereof to the said W.P. Jernigan his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever, this 14th day of August 1848. Received 2 June 1849 at 11 Oclk AM.

         Personally appeared before me Joseph E. Winfield Clerk of the County Court for said County Henry L. Covington & Robrt C. Tate subscribing witnesses to the within named deed, who being first sworn depose and say, that they are acquainted with John L. Durrett the bargainor and that he acknowledged the same in their prescence to be his act & deed upon the day it bears date, Witness my hand at office this 3d Jun 1849.
