         I Francis Durrett of the County of Robertson and State of Tennessee, have this day bargained, and sold, and do hereby transfer and convey to William Brooke his heirs and assigns forever for the consideration of two hundred and twenty one dollars and 75 cents to me paid, a certain tract of land, lying in the 11th Civil District of Robertson County as follows, Beginning at a black walnut John Gilbert’s North East corner, running thence North 1 ½ degrees East eighty five poles to a black oak, thence West twenty nine poles to a planted Rock, Braden Jernigan’s corner, thence South 3 degrees East eighty eight poles to a planted Rock, in John Gilbert’s line, thence with his line North 87 degrees East twenty two poles to the Beginning, containing thirteen and three fourth acres, more or less, to have and to hold, the same to the said William Brooke and his heirs and assigns forever. I do covenant with the said Wm. Brooke that I am lawfully seized of said land, have a good right to convey it, and that the same is unencumberred. I do further covenant and bind myself my heirs and Representatives to Warrant and forever defend the title to said land, and every part thereof, to the said Wm. Brooke his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whatever.

         Personally appeared before me Robt H. Murphey clk of the County Court of said County, Daniel Mulloy on the 9 June 1856 and Isham Treadway on the 26th of June 1856. Witness to the foregoing deed, who on oath say they are acquainted with Francis Durrett the within bargainor, and, that he acknowledged the execution of said deed, in their prescences to be his act and deed for the purposes stated therein. Given under my hand at office the 24th of June 1856.
