Dated 24 Feb 1879
Proven and filed April 7th 1879
         I J. W. Newton of the county of Robertson and State of Tennessee do make and publish this as my last will and testament herby makeing void and revokeing all other by me at any time made
         1st I direct that my final expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon after my death as posible out of any moneys that I may die poscessed of or may come into the hands of my executor-
         2nd I give and bequeath to my Nephue Granville R. Whitehead one Marble topp center Table and two glass lamps and sofa
         3rd I give and bequeath to my mother Martha Newton all the balance of my property bothe personal and real but at her death my land is to bee sold & toom stones purchased & placed at the graves of my father William Newton my Mother Martha Newton my Brother Jasper Newton my sister Mary Newton my wife Eudora Newton [note: John W. Newton and Udora A. Tollison married 16 Dec. 1875] and my own grave out of the proceeds of the sale and the balance if any Equaly divided between my sister Lizzie Davis children & my sister Lou Whitehead [note: L. E. Newton married J. A. Whitehead 1870] son Granville R Whitehead sister Lizzie children haven half and sister Lou son the other half lastly I do nominate & appoint my friend L M Jackson my executor in witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand this the 24 day of Feb 1879 one thousand Eight hundred & seventy nine
