In the name of God Amen,
         I James Long senr of this State of Tennessee, Robertson County being in health the weak in body, but of sound mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all ______ ___ to die make and ordain this my last will and testement. That is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it. And my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a descent and Christian like burial. As to _______ my temporal and worldly Estate. I give and dispose of in the following manner. VIZ
         Item first I leave to my dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Long the house and plantation which I now live. The waggon and team, my stock of cattle, hogs & sheep, all my household kitchen furniture not otherwise disposed of. And all farming utencils so long as she may live. Then the procedes of the above mentioned property to be Equally divided among my sons & Daughters hereafter named. And the following Articles I give to my wife Elizabeth Long to be at her entire disposal. To wit one bed with sufficient furniture and horse to be worth one hundred Dollars and a saddle, one gig ? and _______ pary Harrness one Cupboard, one china ________, one slab, one bureau, one foalding table, and one small table.
         Item the 2nd my Son John Long I give two hundred Dollars in money, one bed and necessary furniture to make him equal with is brother Robert and William Long.
         Item 3rd: I Give to my son James Long two hundred Dollars in money and bed and surporting furniture to make him equal with his two older brothers.
         Item 4th: To my two youngest sons Samuel and Francis Long, I give each one of them a horse and saddle to be worth one hundred and twenty Dollars. Each one bed with surporting furniture. Also two hundred Dollars in money to each of them to make them equal with their four older brothers.
         Item 5th: To my Daughters Dorcas Jones & Elizabeth Green To give each of them Thirty Dollars in money in addition to that they have had.
Item 6th: To my Daughter Jane Long I give one hundred Dollars one bed and supporting furniture. together with an extra bed furniture that she has or may make herself my little trunk, clothes ______ that she may claim as her own. Also two hundred Dollars in money.
         Item 7th: I give to my two youngest Daughters Mary M. Long & Nancy H. Long each of theirs a bed and supporting furniture with any extra furniture they may have made or make themselves the small trunks and clothes _____ they now claim as their own each one to have a horse and saddle to be worth one hundred and twenty Dollars. Also two hundred Dollars in money to each of them.
Item 8th: My two negro women Liah & Phebe I leave them to be sold or retained as my wife and executors hereafter named may deem most Advisable if sold, then money arising from the sale of these after paying all my Just Debts to be layed out in the purchase of others, or to hire hands to attend. The farm also if the Executors think it advisable to Legatees generally. the consent of my wife Elizabeth first being obtained the plantation whereon I now live may be sold, provided my wife aforesaid can be satisfied in another place to live on comfortably. The remainder of her time.
Item 9th: It is further my will that if any of the legatees should be so dissatisfied as to bring suit for the recovery of more of my Estate then I have allotted them they shall pay cost and not receive a Cent.
Item 10th: I appoint Anthony Jones, Robert Long and John Long Executors to this my last will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my Seal this 16th day of March 1819.

         The foregoing last will and testament of James Long Dec’d was presented into Court and proved my the oath of James Mosses and James Long two of the subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
