Robertson County, Tennessee 1805
         I, James Hunt of the County of Robertson of the State of Tennessee being very weak and low in health but of sound end perfect mind and memory, and knowing: the uncertainty of this transitory life, do think proper to make this my last will and testament in manner and for to-whit:
         I lend to my loving wife, Mary Hunt, my negro man named Mastor, one more named Nance, the half of my stock of cattle, half of the house-hold and kitchen furniture, together with half the cleared land that is on the plantation whereon I now live (being that tract which shall include and take in all the buildings and the use of the spring on same plantation) to her for and during her lifetime or widowhood. Also l give and bequeath to my wife, Mary Hunt, all my stock of hogs, one feather bed and furniture. One woman and all the money that is due me, to her and her heirs and assigns forever. And I leave this in lieu and satisfaction of any dower she may hereafter claim in my estate.
         I give and bequeath to my son, Henry, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate) to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to my daughter, Lucy Teasley, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate), to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mary Jones, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate), to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to Moses, my son, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate), to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to James, my son, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate), to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to my son, Shadrack Hunt, one negro named Millie and her increase). But my will and desire is that the said negro girl continue with it's mother and my wife until it is 8 years old, to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         I give to my daughter, Agnes Coone, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate), to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to my son, William Hunt, 100 acres of land (being a part of the tract whereon I now live) to begin at Samuel Weakley's corner, run east to my corner, then along my line to a spring branch, then up said branch so as to take in the upper spring and then around to the beginning for completion. Also one feather bed and one cross cut saw, to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         I to my daughter, Judith Gupton, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate, to her and her heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to my son, Sion Hunt, the sum of one dollar (to be paid out of my estate, to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to my son, Matthew Hunt, one black mare and her colt, to him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         I give and bequeath to my son, John Hunt, 540 acres of land (being balance of tract where I now live, after the 100 acres I have given William is taken off said tract), together with one negro woman named Silvey (and her increase), also all my plantation utensils, one whipsaw, half of my stock of cattle and every other part. of my estate, not herein otherwise disposed of. To him and his heirs and assigns forever. And after the death or my wife, Mary Hunt, my will and desire is, and I do hereby give and bequeath to my said son, John Hunt, all that part of my estate both real and personal, which I have lent to my wife, Mary Hunt, and not otherwise disposed of. To him and his heirs and assigns forever.
         In order to more fully explain my will and intentions, it is my will and desire that all debts, and those legacies which I have herein bequeathed, to be paid in money, should be paid out of that Iegacy, or part of my estate which I have herein bequeathed to my wife Mary Hunt, and not interfere with any other legacy by me herein disposed in. In the payment thereof I hereby constitute and appoint my sons, Sion and John Hunt, whole and sole executors to this my Iast will and testament, hereby revoking and annulling all wills by me heretofore made; ratifying, confirming and establishing this end no other to be my Iast will and testament.
         In witness thereof, I the said James Hunt, have hereron set my and and affixed my seal, this the 22nd day of August, 1803.
