Wm. Johnson and Bowman, in Col. Brevard's Regt.; was in the battle of Ransom's Mills. He enlisted in July 1780 in Burke Co., N.C., as a substitute for William Smith; served in Capt. Clark's Co., Col. William's Regt., and was in the battles of King's Mountain and Cowpens; was discharged 22 Mar. 1781. He then went to visit friends in Wake Co., N.C., where he enlisted in July 1781 and served in Capt. Zabner Mash's Co., Col. Roger Griffin's Regt.; was discharged Aug. 1782 at Chatham C.H. Robert	Burk	Roane	Pension Application S3094: State of Tennessee, Roane County. On this 25 day of July 1832 personally appeared in open court it being a Court of Record Robert BURKE a Resident of Roane County State aforesaid aged about 69 years who being duly sworn according to Law doth on his oath make the following declarations in order to obtain the benefits of the provisions made by the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832 that he enlisted in North Carolina for ten months in the State of troops under Captain FOSTER -- Regiment then transfered to Capt. BARNET Lieutenant Andrew BAXTER, Col. Wade HAMPTON Gen. SUMPTER Commanded, within the year 1782 A.D. -- he enlisted & served his time out at Fridays Fort Thompsons Fort Battle & at Orangeburg and afterwards was Discharged at Orangeburg, South Carolina but has lost his discharge he resided in Mecklinburg [Mecklenburg Co] North Carolina when he enlisted he knew Maj. Moore & Capt. BURNS & Wm. Alexander officers in the Army He hereby relinquishes every claim whatever to a pension or an annuity except the present and he declares that his name is not on the pension roll of any agency in any state. s/Robert BURK Sworn to in open Court, July 26th 1832 H.J. I Charles TALIAFERRO a Clergyman residing in the County of Roane hereby certify that I am well acquainted with Robert BURK who has subscribed & sworn to the above declaration that I believe him to be 68 years old that he is respected & believed in the neighborhood he resides to have been a soldier of the Revolution & that I concur in that opinion. Charles TALEFERRO Sworn and subscribed the day and year aforesaid. H.S. PURRIS, D.C. Adam Miller, John MEAD & George PICKEL are well acquainted with Robert BURK who has subscribed and sworn to the foregoing declaration for a pension and believe he is a respectable man & where he resides has always always been reputed to have been a soldier of the Revolutionary & we concur in that opinion.
