JOHN REED, SR. died Boone Co., MO, June 7, 1850 aged 86 years, 2 months and 1 day old [April 6, 176]; veteran of the Revolutionary War; participant in battle of Guilford Courthouse; moved to Kentucky.

JOHN HARVEY born Halifax Co., Va., 1784; moved with parents to S.C. about 1794; moved to Carroll Co., Tenn., 1838, where he died recently.

JAMES BRIDGES BOON son of J. B. and Elizabeth Boon, born April 23, 1849; died near Cotton Grove, Madison Co., Tenn., April 30, 1850.

MELVILLE COX HOLLOMAN son of J. B. and N. H. Holloman; born Dec. 12, 1849; died Jan. 2, 1850.

Dr. DABNEY LIPSCOMB, Columbus, Miss., born Abbeville Dist., S.C., May 6, 1803; served in recent session of the Mississippi legislature; died shortly afterwards of a long illness; his wife bore their last child in the last few days of his life.

CHARLES ABLERT SUTTON son of Samuel J. Sutton, Mt. Pleasant, Tenn.; died July 17, 1850 "two days after he was. seventeen months old" [about February 15, 1849].

INFORMATION WANTED. JACOB SMITH, if living, would have been about 80 years old; moved from Alabama to Oldham Co., Ky. about 6 years ago and lived there until the summer of 1848; where had he gone? If anyone knew, contact his only son, Nathan Smith, Spring Hill, Marengo Co., Alabama.

Rev. EBENEZER McGOWAN born London, England, Feb. 17, 1767; died April 30, 1850; came to the U. S., 1784, settling in Dinwiddie Co., Va. where he married Sally Still, 1786, and had children, James (deceased, with family); John and Elizabeth (who died young); he married, secondly, Frances Baugh, 1797; thirteen children; moved to Mecklenburg Co., Va. where he mercantiled with Samuel Goode, for whom he named one of his own sons, Samuel Goode McGowan; moved to Rutherford Co., Tenn., 1816, where he died. He was a local Methodist preacher for about sixty years.

Smallpox swept through Mt. Pinson, Madison Co., Tenn. and vicinity this summer and killed Rev. TUCKER, C. H. WILLIAMS (a teacher) and two HUNTSMAN children.

Rev. JAMES B. HOLLIS born Rutherford Co., Tenn., Oct. 14, 1810; died Coffee Co., Tenn., June 24, 1850; son of David and Elizabeth Hollis; married Martha Saffle, 1827. Methodist preacher in Tennessee Conference; ordained deacon, 1840; ordained elder, 1842; several children.

Rev. STEPHEN HEARN born Montgomery Co., N.C., Jan. 8, 1796; married Prudence Coggins, 1818 and moved to Madison Co., Tenn.; licensed to preach in Methodist Church, August 23, 1828; ordained deacon, Nov. 8, 1840; died April 19, 1850.

Rev. POMPEY DANIEL (a black man) died Hardin Co., Tenn., July 5, 1850 in the 90th year of his age and 59th as a local Methodist preacher (having gotten his first license to preach from Bishop Francis Asbury).

WILLIAM EIDSON born in Kentucky, May 15, 1793; died July 8, 1850; married Maria Harwood; three children.

BISHOP BASCOM died in Louisville, Kentucky, Sunday, September 8, 1850. [HENRY BIDLEMON BASCOM, born May 27, 1796; elected a bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South shortly before he died.]

Rev. JOSIAH WHITAKER died in Harrison Co., Ky., August 21, 1850; born Baltimore, Maryland, Nov. 30, 1799; moved with parents to Boubon County, Ky., November 1792; joined Methodist Church, March 1793; married Susan Honey, April 4, 1799; licensed to preach in Methodist Church, 1813; a local preacher until 1818 when he entered the Ohio Conference as an itinerant preacher; filled numerous appointments, including a mission for black folk in Lexington, Ky., 1837-1839; retired in 1846; he provided a permanent home for his family although he traveled far from home at times.

MARY ELIZABETH HAYES daughter of Colonel William D. and Caroline Hayes; born Nov. 3, 1833; died August 15, 1850. Athens, Alabama.

SARAH MITCHELTREE, native of Fermanagh, Ireland, came to the U. S. when fourteen years old and settled in Kentucky where she married John Mitcheltree; died Nicholas Co., Ky., August 12, 1850.

MARY ANN RICE died eight miles from Gallatin, Miss., Sept. 2, 1850; born Fairfield District, S.C., 1809; married Captain C. B. N. Rice, August 10, 1836; moved to Copiah Co., Miss., 1837.

Major JOHN BOSTICK, native of Virginia, served in the Revolutionary War; had a large family, including a son, Rev. Absalom Bostick (dec.). Died Williamson Co., Tenn., Sept. 20, 1850. [This surname was often pronounced Bostick and as such this man was listed as John Bostick, applying (R1040) for a Revolutionary War pension, in which it was mentioned that he had lived in Surry Co., N.C. about the time of the Revolution; later lived in Richmond Co., N.C. but moved to Williamson Co., Tennessee where he died. He had a number of children, whom he mentioned in his last will and testament.]
