HENRY OVERTON WELLS of Bristol, England, died Nov. 23, 1871; born 1800. "He laid the foundation of thirty chapels." Left twelve sons, two daughters.

Rev. ROBERT J. BRECKINRIDGE, D.D., died Danville, Ky., Dec. 27, 1871; professor of Exegetic, Didactic and Polemic Theology in a theological seminary; born in Ky., March 8, 1800.

Mrs. MARY ANN RENCHER w/o James H. Rencher, died Ft. Deposit, Ala. Nov. 22, 1871; d/o James and Elizabeth J. R. McCall; born Bibb Co., Ala. May 28, 1833; md July 22, 1847.

LOUISA WELLER d/o G. C. and E. Weller, died Sept. 4, 1871 aged 17 years, 9 months, 19 days old; joined Baptist Church at Little Union August 1869.

BENJAMIN WESLEY DUNN s/o George and Dicy Dunn; born Garrard Co., Ky. Dec. 2, 1831; died Lincoln County, Ky. Oct. 3, 1871; in 1853 moved to Huntsville, Alabama; in Feb. 1856 moved to Danville; the next year moved to Stanford, all of which time he was a merchant until 1863 when he was elected as sheriff and then cashier of the Bank of Stanford; md Fannie McKinney, October 25, 1864; left widow and three children.

Mrs. BOURCHETT HESTER, nee House, born Granville Co., N.C. Sept. 22, 1774; died November 6, 1871; her mother died when she was an infant and she was raised by an uncle, William House who died in 1840 near Petersburg in his 98th year; md Benjamin Hester 1796; in 1822 moved to Bedford Co., Tenn.; he died August 18, 1828; had ten children, eight surviving her; member of Primitive Baptist Church for over 60 years.

LOU CARROL w/o Richard Carrol; d/o Altimont and Sarah R. Thompson of Lauderdale County, Ala.; died August 10, 1871 in her 25th year; joined MECS 1864.

MELISSA FRANCES HUDSON w/o John McFerrin Hudson; born Sumner Co., Tenn. July 20, 1841; died North Edgefield, Tenn. Dec. 31, 1871; joined Second Presbyterian Church 1857.

NANNIE ELLEN McFERRIN w/o Rev. T. McFerrin; d/o E. L. and D. A. Crocker; died Dec. 30, 1871.

Miss NANCY REED, aged 103, died Hart Co., Ky., Nov. 22, 1871; she lived in the family of the late Littleberry Carter during the life of his first wife.

GRANVILLE HUFFAKER s/o Rev. Jacob and Mary Huffaker; born Knox Co., Tenn. and raised there; died Dec. 21, 1871 in his 23rd year.

ORLANDO E. MALONE eldest s/o W. H. Malone, died Marion, McDowell Co., N.C. Dec. 20, 1871 aged 18 years, 1 month, 23 days old.

WILLIAM HUGHES born Patrick Co., Va. August 13, 1795; died October 10, 1871; moved to Maury Co., Tenn. about 45 years ago and settled on Duck River near Cedar Spring where he lived about ten years; then moved to Bedford Co., Tenn. and lived there 25 years; then moved back to Maury Co. about 14 years ago where he died.

ALEXANDER WHELENS died New Orleans, La. Dec. 3, 1871 in his 45th year; moved to New Orleans several years ago; had lived primarily in Nashville, Tenn.; left a widow and children.

MATTIE J. LEWIS d/o Dr. John W. Sisk of Greene Co., Tenn. but now of Smythe Co., Va.; w/o John H. Lewis; born Sept. 14, 1828; died Tazewell Co., Va. Dec. 9, 1871; md November 29, 1870.

LUCY BOOTH consort of Charles Booth, born Va. 1785; died Oct. 2, 1871; md and moved to Giles Co., Tenn., then to Limestone Co. Ala. and lived until his death about 20 years ago; then went to live with son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Emeline Booth; had four sons, three daughters.

Mrs. MARY HELM died Dec. 20, 1871 in her 95th year in residence of her son, H. B. Helm, esquire; d/o Benjamin Edwards of Montgomery Co., Md., a member of the U.S. Congress; md 1803 to Benjamin Helm, a Kentucky pioneer, who died in his 91st year; their grandson, Rev. Benjamin Helm, was a missionary to China; another grandson, Benjamin Bristow, was solicitor-general of U.S.; a son, Henry B. Helm.

Rev. C. B. PARSONS, D. D., born Enfield, Conn. July 23, 1805; died Louisville, Ky. Dec. 8, 1871; md Emily C. Oldham October 7, 1830; joined MEC March 1839; licensed to preach the same year; stricken with paralysis 2-3 years ago.

MARY C. EASTERLY d/o Noah W. Easterly and granddaughter of Jacob Easterly, born Cocke Co., Tenn. July 24, 1848; died December 23, 1871.

MARY R. WEAVER d/o Willis and Lotty Weaver, formerly of Ky.; died St. Louis, Mo. October 16, 1871; 27 years a faithful member of Centenary Church; her mother, blind, survived.

Mrs. SOPHIA HOUSER of Botetourt Co., Va., born 1823; died Oct. 3, 1871; joined MEC at age 15.

FANNIE M. TINSLEY d/o L. D. and Mary E. Cooper; born March 23, 1845; died Ohio Co., Ky., Dec. 14, 1871; joined MECS in 14th year; md Monroe Tinsley, January 1866; buried in New Bethel Churchyard.

JAMES BLANFORD born 1807; died Taylor Co., Ky. Dec. 26, 1871; left a widow, two sons, two daughters.

JOHN IRVIN SMITH "died more than a year ago"; youngest delegate at church conference at Murfreesboro, Tenn. 1870; his mother was a d/o Rev. George Dye and sister of Rev. William T. Dye; others who had died in past year: Rebecca Reeves, Sue Payne, "Sister" Council, Dr. K. S. Campbell.

NANCY JOHNSON died January 1, 1872; md at age 15 to William Johnson of Va.; both joined MEC that year; he was long deceased; had large family of children and grandchildren; lived many years in Logan Co., Kentucky.

Rev. R. W. COLEMAN born Livingstone Co., Ky. June 19, 1822; died Smithland, Ky., Nov. 16, 1871; md Martha Green, June 10, 1847; licensed to preach, MECS, July 1856; left a widow and eight children.

P. L. MASSIE s/o Rev. J. H. Massie, formerly of Hanover Co., N.C. but "now" of Tennessee, died November 27, 1871.

Rev. GEORGE O. HILTON, native of Illinois, was about 35 years old when he died Dec. 23, 1871, from injury received while cutting fire-wood.

DANIEL SMITH died Gosport, Ind., January 15, 1872; born Montgomery Co., Ky. July 7, 1801; moved with parents to Clark Co., Ky. when a boy; md there to Eliza A. d/o Thomas G. Gardner, January 15, 1824; he was raised in the Baptist Church but joined MEC July 23, 1825; moved to Trimble Co., Ky. 1833 and was lay leader in Mt. Nego church; sold his farm in Nov. 1870 and went to live with his son, Dr. John W. Smith of Gosport.

Rev. WILLIAM H. JORDAN, died Dec. 25, 1871. "He rose from his bed in apparently good health and enjoyed the happy rejoicings of his children over their presents which Santa Claus had brought them. In about an hour afterward he was attacked with colic and in half an hour was a corpse." A member of the Tennessee Conference; md "Miss" Smith 1846; d/o Hon. H. D. Smith; burial in Florence, Alabama.

Rev. JOHN A. JONES, chiefly a tribute to his supposed virtues with but one date given, 1861, the year he was appointed to Union Circuit, Tennessee Conference.

LYDIA STEVENSON w/o Rev. Elam Stevenson of Giles Co., Tenn.; d/o William and Catharine Payne, born Burke (now Caldwell) Co., N.C., Aug. 16, 1787; died at home, March 6, 1872; md Jan. 14, 1808; had eleven children, ten surviving her; among living and deceased they had 90 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; joined MEC 1802. Her son, Rev. J. B. Stevenson wrote, "My mother was a shouting Methodist."

OCTAVIA FREDERICA PARK d/o Rev. Archibald and Hester Crockett, born July 3, 1844; died Houston, Miss., Feb. 3, 1872; md A. A. Park, Jan. 19, 1860 and had four children, the youngest born four days before her death.

HARDEN DURHAM died Robertson Co., Tenn. Nov. 20, 1871; md Mattie Sadler 1848; joined the MECS, at Salem, the same year; in July 1868 his only surviving child, THOMAS DURHAM, was killed by lightning.

GEORGE FLETCHER CANNON s/o Alexander and Lydia Cannon, born Georgetown, Ky., Oct. 17, 1829; died in same place, March 6, 1872; joined MECS 1864; buried "on the hill that overlooks the town."

MARTHA E. PRICE d/o Henry and Sarah Ebean, born Baltimore, Md. Sept. 12, 1839; died March 1, 1872; md Joseph A. Price, Aug. 9, 1860 and moved to Lewis Co., Ky. at the close of the war /Civil War/.
