This section will contain information about individuals and events involved in the mining history of the Copper Basin of Polk County, TN. If you have stories involving this area and time, please send to me, with the subject "Basin", and I will add them here. Four generations of my ancestor's worked in various mines, involved from the beginning of the mining story until the end, so this is a very important part of Polk history to me. I watched in awe, as many of you did, as the barren red hills around Ducktown slowly turned green with life again.
Most of the information here is gleened from the three publications below, with the permission of Mr. R. E. Barclay, Jr., son of R. E. Barclay.
The three publications are available by mail from the Ducktown Mining Museum. The mailing address is P.O. Box 458, Ducktown, TN 37326. The books are $17 each, or all three for $45 plus shipping by Priority Mail is $3.20 for one book, $5.40 for two or three.
