BELL AND ROBERSON CEMETERY

Bell and Roberson Cemetery, November 1999

This cemetery is on the north side of highway 438 about half way between highway 13 and Pineview. The access drive joins the highway at an acute angle which hides it to westbound traffic, but it is readily visible to eastbound traffic. The sign at the access drive says "Bell & Roberson Cemetery" though "Robinson" might be more appropriate. The cemetery is very unusual because it is still in use but retains a nineteenth century appearance. About 60 percent of the graves here are marked with fieldstone headstone and footstones laid in parallel rows. There are still readable 52, 64 and 65 year old original temporary markers!

David Donahue recorded Bell and Roberson Cemetery November 26, 1999 and checked it August 29, 2004. Mary (Stewart) Bowen and Melissa (Snyder) Bowen recorded the cemetery in the early 1990s. Their record appears as Edwards Cemetery in Mary Bowen's Perry County, Tennessee Cemetery Records (Vol. I). This earlier record is referred to as Bowen in the notes below.
