            In the name of God amen — I James McAdow of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina being of Sound and perfect mind blesed by God — I do this 23rd day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninty nine make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say

          First I will and bequeath all my household furniture unto my wife Margaret unto my daters comes of age if she remaines a widow and then to be equaly divided amongst my deters as they come of age Mary Sarah and Darcus and Martha and likewise I cave unto my wife my gray mare for the use of my family as long as she remains a widow and likewise all my plows and gears & axes and hows and all my farming utentials and likewise I will and bequeath unto my wife the one third of my cows and the half of the sheep and all my hogs for the use of my family and I alow my Executors to sal my bay mair & colt and to purches another such as the think will sute my family and to go to their use and I will end bequeath unto my son John all my clothes and I gave unto my wife all my grain corn and wheat and I will and leave forty dollars of my estate be kept and part to the use of schooling my children and I alow my sons etch of them to have a hors creture raised from the mairs that I willed to my wife and the use to get them as the_ come of age and I alow my three oldest sons John William and David to be bound to some good trade etch to be bound at the age of twenty years and I alow my land to be sold but not under one year after the proveing of this will and I alow my Executors to take the price of my land and to purches land in the State of Canituck where the_ see fit and I alow my wife to keep that land in hir possestion during hir life or widowhood and at the expiration of either death or hir merage I will and bequeath the said land unto my son Ezrah and I alow negro Dick to be sold or otherwise if said Dick can get two hundred and fifty dollars and gave for himself he may go free and I alow the price of said negro Dick to go to interest and to be equally divied amongst my children as the come of age and I leave all my books with my wife unto my children comes of age and then to be equally divided amongst them at the descration of my wife the oldest is to have the firs_ choise and I alow the wagon that the_ move in to the State of Canituck to be sold to purches provition for the use of my wife and family and I alow all the money of my personal estate that remains to go to the use of my wife and family as long as she remains a widow and if my wife should marry I alow all the money that remains of my personal estate to go to interest and to be equally divided amongst my seven oldest children as the_ come of age and I alow my wife to have the fifth part of my household furniture and to have hir choise and to be at hir disposial forever and I alow my brother John to hire out negro Dick until the vavelew and the money to go to the of my wife and family end I do hereby make and ordain my worthy friends John Huston and Levenus Huston and my wife Margaret Executors of this my last will and testament.

            In witness whereof I the said James McAdow to this my last will and testament have set my hand end seal the day and year above writen.
