            In the name of God Amen. I John Grissom of the County of Gibson and State of Tennessee being of feeble body but of a sound mind and disposing memory and knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and being desirous to dispose of what God has blessed me with before death I do it in the following manner first of all I give my body to the earth from which it was taken and my soul to God who gave it. as to my property first I will that all my just debts and funeral expences be paid out of what I leave behind Secondly I will that after my daughter Nancy Grissom has? had an equal portion with those of my other Children who are married then she is entitled to Seventy five Dollars more thirdly I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Grissom all the balance of my property both house household and Kitchen furniture and land and all my effects during her natural life and after her death whatever remains to be divided equally between Tempy Russels heirs of her body and W. P Russel being decd? his two children to have his part Elizabeth Noel & Stephen Grissom William Grissom Nancy Grissom W. H. Grissom I make this my last will and testament revoking all other wills by me at a~ny time made ~n witness whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal. This the 11th day of February 1864
