OBITUARY

Mrs. Lillian Watson Parker was born in Henderson County, Tennessee to the late Lafayette Watson and Mary Pyle Watson. She departed this earthly life December 4, 1993 at the Mission Convalescent Home in Jackson, Tennessee.

Mrs. Parker received her education from the Henderson County School System. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Jessie Parker, who preceded her in death.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined the St. Paul Baptist Church in Lexington, Tennessee. After moving to Jackson, Tennessee, she united with the Macedonia Baptist Church in 1923, where she remained a very active member until her health failed. She served under the pastorates of Rev. W. W. Taylor, Rev. Cleavant Denick, Rev. R. J. Page and Rev. Harold B. Brock.

She served as church clerk for forty-two years. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Chairman of the Lydia Circle and a member of the Pastor’s Aide. She established Women’s Day at Macedonia Baptist Church sixty-three years ago, which spread to churches throughout the area. Prior to the integration of hotels and motels, most visiting ministers stayed in her home. She was also president of The Royal Ladies Civic club.

Mrs. Parker truly loved her church and her church family. It was her request to stay at Mission Convalescent so she could be near her church.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two nieces, Mrs. Velma Meadows of Salina, Kansas and Mrs. Laveria (Lymon) Priddy of Lexington, Tennessee; a great-great niece, Mrs. Donna Gardner of Salina, Kansas; a number of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
