January 30, 1909

Mrs. J. M. TAYLOR of Civil District 16, Madison County, died January 28; burial in family graveyard. "She was a member of one of the oldest families in the county and has a large connection in Jackson and vicinity."

 

February 13, 1909

ROBERT W. TAYLOR, aged 69 years, died February 10 near Mercer. Confederate veteran; 33rd Tenn. Infantry Reg.

 

March 4, 1909

Mrs. EMMA WARLICK McDONALD, aged 71 years, died March 2, Jackson. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. Presbyterian.

 

March 28, 1909

KIT WOOD died in Memphis, March 24; burial in Jackson, March 26, in Hollywood Cemetery. Lived in Jackson many years before moving to Memphis.

 

April 1, 1909

EUGENE H. SIMMONS, railroad conductor, died Little Rock, March 30; burial at Mt. Moriah in Fayette County. Brother of Mrs. J. F. Whitelaw and J. M. Simmons of Jackson. Member of ORC and DRT of Jackson.

 

May 26, 1909

Mrs. LESSIE, wife of L. L. FONVILLE, died Jackson, May 25. Daughter of Dr. G. M. Savage of Martin who was a former president of Union University. Sister of Dr. George Savage, Memphis.

June 13, 1909

Mrs. G. W. BANKS, wife of Rev. C. W. Banks of Paducah, Ky., died there, June 11. Burial in Selmer, Tennessee. Date-lined from Jackson.

 

June 16, 1909

J. H. JOHNSON died June 14, Jackson from injuries from being run over by a horse-drawn carriage.

S. L. SHELTON, aged 69 years, of Oakfield, died June 13 and burial was in family graveyard.

 

July 29, 1909

Dr. W. L. CHESTER's remains arrived from Memphis July 27 and were buried.

 

September 6, 1909

Mrs. M. B. HUNT, aged 78 years, died September 5 at home of her daughter, Mrs. L. P. Garner, Jackson.

 

October 1, 1909

FRANCIS MARION DUGGER, 2 years old, son of R. M. Dugger, died September 29 at the home of his grandfather (unnamed) on Royal Street in Jackson; of diptheria.

 

October 28, 1909

Captain E. J. TIMBERLAKE was buried October 27 in family graveyard near Lexington, Tennessee. Father of Mrs. John E. McCall of Memphis and Mrs. N. B. Barham of Lexington. Brother of Capt. W. F. Timberlake. Farmer and banker.

 

November 9, 1909

W. I. NEFF was buried November 8 in Riverside Cemetery, Jackson. WEST TENNESSEE WHIG, Jackson, Tennessee, May 4, 1849
