In the 52 year of his age

(This tombstone has been broken; it was a beautiful marker.)

TRIBUNE-SUN, Nov. 29, 1878:
Died. Major Geo. W. Robertson, early hours of Thursday, at Lancaster Hse. in Jackson, aged abt. 48. (Note difference in age in newspaper and tombstone age.) Been in Jackson over a decade, officer of the Mobile and Ohio RR. "He was an isolated man, without kindred or family in this section, but it is due his memory to say that a kinder & more generous man was never known in Jackson."

THE JACKSON SON, Jan. 26, 1877:
Died. In the last week, William Alexander, aged 63. Pioneer citizen of Jackson. Masonic Order.

A beautiful tombstone, on east side of this lot:

In the Memory of My Wife
ELIZABETH ALEXANDER
Died Aug. 11, 1868
Aged 56 Years

This is the captain's wife: the stone he placed in her memory and the other on west side of lot beside his stone!
