LESTERS CHAPEL CEMETERY

Lesters Chapel cemetery is located on the south side Hart's Bride Road about 2.5 miles east of U.S. 45. The cemetery is very well maintained. Within the fence it is difficult to identify unmarked graves. A 1981 record of the cemetery included the note "many unmarked graves," but the replacement markers for the Key and Hawks family burials were not in place at that time. Two footstone with initials seem to have been moved to mark otherwise unmarked graves. There may be 2 or more unmarked burials just beyond the west fence.

David Donahue recorded Lesters Chapel Cemetery February 14, 2004 using as a base a printout of "Cemetery List," an early 2003 record of the cemetery available on the church web site at:
http://www.churches.net/churches/lesters/Cemetary_List.htm
Information from this record was limited to name and birth and death years. This is referred to as Cemetery List in notes below.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd W. Johnson recorded the cemetery on January 24, 1981. Their record appeared in Family Findings, Vol. XIII, No. 2, April 1981. This is referred to as Johnsons in notes below.

Unidentifiable

A.C. [footstone-like marker]

Two unidentfied infant graves by the western fence are identified in Cemetery List as (north) Eugene Thomas Graves (1958) and (south) Teresa Kay Graves (1961)

Other Visible Markers

Two discarded concrete markers near the southwest corner of the cemetery are older markers for Purdy S. Cochran and the infant son of N. M. & Maud Murchison.

There is a family pet cemetery (in 2004 at least one grave was marked with a wooden cross) near and in the woods southwest of Lesters Chapel Cemetery.
