Services for Mrs. Essie Iva Ellis a highly respected citizen of Henderson County were Thursday at the Key's Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. T. E. White of Martin officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery with Parham Funeral Home of Parsons in charge.
Mrs. Ellis, who was 63, died Monday in her home on Barnhill Street. She had been ill health for several years. She was a Methodist a faithful church worker, a stewardess and an Eastern Star.
She leaves her husband, Joe Ellis of Lexington; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Lou Smith of Lexington, Mrs. Artie Mae Sanders of Chicago, Ill, two sisters, Mrs. Leavy Mackey of Lexington, Mrs. Rotha Shephard, 12 grandchildren and four great grandchilren.
Mrs. Georgia Mae Cathey was rushed to Lexington Hospital early last Tuesday morning and has undergone surgery. Her condition has improved.
Mrs. Eddie Mae Wilson and Mrs. Mary Ann Mallette and children have, returned to Chicago. Mrs. Catherine Ross accompanied them for three weeks visit.
Mrs. Hattie Thomas was taken to Lexington Hospital after falling and breaking her arm on last Monday. She has returned home and showing great improvement.
The Rev. J. L. Burkley filled his appointment Sunday morning at the St. Paul Baptist Church and preached on the, subject "To See God's Face."
SFC James T. Taylor of Badtolz, Germany is spending a 30 days furlough with his wife, Mrs. Charlie Bell Taylor, and mother, Mrs. Dollie Taylor.
Mr. and Mrs George Whitaker and family of Columbia visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Werthing, recently.
Walter Jean Watson spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Arthena Rush, of New Madrid, Mo.
The, Vacation Bible School that was held at the St. Paul Baptist Church during July 9-13 was very profitable and successful. About 162 children attended class daily from all age levels. The commencement exercise, on Sunday night climaxed the program with each class giving a very timely and unique demonstration on what they had learned during the week.
Congratulations! Children and parents of Lexington and Henderson County on your behavior and spirit of cooperation during the school and the warm friendship that existed between the children and all of the faculty.
We extend a vote, of thanks and appreciation to Rev. E. E. Deusner, Mrs. Kenneth Hanna, Mrs. Fay Betzler, Miss Brenda Lee Teague, Miss Sarah Holcomb, Miss Sue Sullivan, Miss Karen Chambers, Miss Gail Reeves, Miss Geneva Lewis, Miss June Duck and Richard Butler. We shall be forever grateful for their services and the very fine relationship we had with them.
Leonard Pearson has undergone surgery at Jackson General Hospital and is showing improvement.

The Revival at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church closed Friday night with the Rev. E. L. Govan of Jackson doing some wonderful preaching. The Rev. L. R. Swinney, minister and members express their thanks and appreciation to everyone for the fine spirit of cooperation and fellowship during the revival.
Mr. and Mrs. Andy Johnson and granddaughter, Pattie Lee Miller and James Johnson Jr. visited Mr and Mrs. Ervin Johnson of Memphis during the weekend.
Willie H. Lee has returned after spending several days vacationing in Chicago, Detroit, Canada, Pittsburgh and New York. He resumed his job as teaching at Lewisburg on Thursday.
The Rev. W. M. Smith filled his regular appointment at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Sunday morning and Baptized five. The Baptismal service was very impressive. The church Covenant was read by Rev. Smith and a wonderful sermon was preached.
Malcolm Dotson, Muri Dot-son and Prince Dotson of Knoxville have returned after spending their vacation with their grandmother, Mrs. Willie Mae Williams and aunt, Mrs. Bertha Mae Neal.
Mrs. Addie Price of Long Island, N. Y., is visiting relatives and friends.
Mrs. Jessie Bell Buckley of Cleveland, Ohio, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Dessie Steele.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kizer are spending several days in Chicago with their children.
Lyman Priddy was slightly was injured Saturday when the front wheels of the car he driving locked. Murray Flake an occupant in the car was uninjured. Mr. Priddy was taken to Lexington Hospital. His condition is satisfactory and will return home during the week.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Harmon of Franklin entertained with a going away party Monday night, Mrs. Mary Francis Dickerson and children Gloria. Rebecca and Joe Nathan of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Odessa Westbrook and Cathay Jean Neal. A delicious meal was enjoyed.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Anderson, R-4 are the proud parents of a baby boy born Aug, 15, Lexington Hospital. Congratulations!
On Thursday night at Lexington High School football stadium the Montgomery Tigers played their first game of the season against Bonneville, Miss. The strength and courage of the teams kept the game scoreless. Coaches, King and Beal are looking forward for a great season. We congratulate the Tigers. "Keep Fighting."

Tom Bell Parker, retired farmer and highly respected citizen of Henderson County died Monday evening at his home on Garvey Street after a lengthy illness. He was 73. He was a Baptist.
Services were Wednesday evening at Timberlake Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. T. E. White of Martin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Parham Funeral Home of Parsons in charge.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Isola Parker of Lexington; two sons, D. L. Parker of Peoria, Ill., John Allen Parker of Lexington; four daughters, Mrs. Ardell Green of Peoria, Ill; Mrs. Ella Mae Bowman, Mrs. Avella Thomas, Miss Clara Parker all of Lexington; one brother, Genie Parker of Lexington, one sister, Mrs. Ruby Kizer of Nashville, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rev. and Mrs. Lawerence Dickerson of Indianapolis, Ind. are the guests of her brother, Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster Flake.
Mrs. Addie Harmon and Mrs. Jessie B. Trice were in Jackson Friday evening for the meeting of the Royal Ladies Better Improvement Club. Mrs. Laveria Flowers accompanied them.
