November 28, 1958

            The Senior Choir of the St. Paul Baptist Church entertained with a turkey dinner in the home of Mrs. Mary L. Johnson Thursday night. Among those enjoying the festivities were Mrs. Jessie B. Trice, Mrs. Ora Cooper, Mrs. Elsie Johnson, Mrs. Eddie Hamilton, Mrs. Mary L. Johnson, Mrs. Catherine Ross, Mrs. Lizzie Mae Douglas, Mrs. Vivian Johnson, Mrs. Addie Harmon, Mrs. Marie B. Young, Mr. and Mrs. Jim White, Miss Mattie Jane Hamilton, Bernell White, Edna Jo and Christine Johnson, Murray Flake and Edward Taylor.

            Rev. M. M. Cole of Memphis is the newly-elected minister of the Lewis Chapel A.M.E. Church. He and his family will live in the church manse.

            Presiding Elder G. C. Jenkins of the Paris Jackson District will preach at Lewis Chapel A.M.E. Church Sunday morning at 11. In the evening at 3 p.m. the Rev. Mason and his congregation of Parsons will worship.

            The Montgomery Tigers opened the basketball season Friday night by walloping Selmer. Girls score 18-17, boys score 30-27. Coaches Beasley and Pearson are looking forward to a successful season.

            Mrs. Helen McDonald has undergone surgery at the Madison General Hospital at Jackson.
